Porter Monitor® 14 Series Tub & Shower Trim 2.3 5 3 3
Flimsy and no water pressure control I just bought a house with this faucet in the bath. I hate that I can't control the water pressure - it's like the type of faucet found in a cheap motel. The faucets in the sinks are beautiful and work well and the accessories are very pretty (tp holder, towel racks). My water was coming out luke warm at best, I figured there was a scald control and tried to take the handle off, the screw stripped and after I got that out it didn't slip off like in the video, the plastic parts inside broke and now it doesn't work. I agree with other reviews that it is flimsy and wish it had pressure control. I love Delta products and will likely buy a different style to replace this now broken one. March 14, 2014
Nice design, poor performance To be fair, I ‘got what I paid for’ and I made assumptions. I didn’t realize that you cannot control the water pressure on this unit and Delta didn’t make it obvious on the packaging. You can only control the hot cold mix and that is it. Yuck! Also the installation instructions should be a little clearer. Do not forget to put at least eight inch drop pipe on the tub spout or water will flow out of the shower head. Very disappointing to find this out after is installed. April 5, 2013
Very low water pressure You do not want this unit if yall like water pressure; Nicely designed unit but with low pressure, says its 2.0 GPM but unable to git that much in a minute. Contacted delta to see if they offer a diferent cartidge fer this model to git more pressure from shower head. The water pressure is so low comin out that the water looks like like a sprinkler you use in your garden. It does have three setings but the main setin se use is the one with all holes shootin out. But it is a very well designed unit and great apperance. October 16, 2014

Answer:
Hi Gene, Thank you for your question. In 1994 we had several different series of faucets that would have "Monitor" on the escutcheon. If your faucet has a single control that only controls the temperature, not the volume of the water and turns counter-clockwise to turn on and clockwise to turn off you can use the model 144984-OB trim with your existing rough in valve. The new faucet will come with a new cartridge. The new cartridge will not fit your existing rough in valve. You will have to continue to use your existing cartridge or order a new RP19804.
If your current faucet offers a single handle that controls water volume, and a smaller knob at the end of the handle that controls water temperature you will have to replace the rough in valve to be able to use the 144984-OB.
Thanks,
Dave

Need to know if 2.0 gpm cartdridge on porter 144984 can be replaced with a delta cartridge with 2.5 gpm or more. Pressure is coming into home is not the issue, we have high pressure on other faucets/sinks in home. Thanks.

Answer:
Hi Mavman70, Thank you for your question. The cartridge in the model 144984 is rated at higher than 2.0 gpm. It is the showerhead itself that is rated at the 2 gallons per minute flow rate. You can switch out the showerhead to one with a greater flow rate. The connection is a standard 1/2" pipe connection.
Thanks,
Dave

Can increase water flow?

We have discovered in reading the answer to a previous person's question that we inadvertently purchased a " water sense" fixture 144984-OB-A. Can this be changed to a non water sense head? We are on our own well so water conservation is not a problem. If so what would be the procedure, model # etc. We purchased it at home depot.

Hi Jim, Thank you for your question. The RP62171OB showerhead that comes in the 144984-OB-A is rated at 2.0 gallons per minute. You can purchase any of our showerheads that flow at a higher rate to replace this model. The shower arm connection is a standard 1/2" pipe thread.

Can you change the cartridge to increase water pressure?

I replaced my shower faucet with this model and the water pressure is significantly weaker. Is there a replacement cartridge available that will work with this faucet that allows more flow/pressure? Any other way to increase flow if that is not possible?

Answer:
Hi HSims, Thank you for your question. The cartridge affects water flow, but not water pressure. That is determined by the water pressure coming into your home. The showerhead that comes with the model 144984-OB-A is a watersense labeled product that flows at 2.0 gallons per minute compared the standard 2.5 gpm of most showerheads. This feature may be where you are seeing the loss of water flow.
Thanks,
Dave

Mounting fixture

It appears to me that this fixture is held in place by the supply plumbing and the Escutcheon, is that the case? And what is the maximum/minimum dimensions for the size of the hole through the wall for the trim sleeve?

Answer:
Hi Al, Thank you for your question. We recommend that the model 144984-BN be attached to a stringer behind the wall to hold the fixture in place. The trim sleeve is approximately 2-3/8" wide. The hole can be the size of the plaster guard which is 4" x 4".

Answer:
Hi Mike,
Thank you for your question. The movement of the lever handle on the Porter model 144984-OB is only from 3 to 12 o-clock. If the water is not getting hot enough you may have to adjust your rotational limit stop underneath the handle. I have attached the instructions on how to do this.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Based on the picture, your faucet looks like the 1300 series. The way to tell this is if you turn your faucet to the right or left to turn it on. If you have to push up and then turn it to the right or left, you have a 600 series valve. We do make a renovation kit for the 600 series with model # RP54870SS.

If you determine that you have a 1300 series faucet, then you can replace it with any trim but use the cartridge that you already have in the wall.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 144984-OB-A contains a rotational limit stop that may need adjusting to allow more hot water to flow through the valve. Included here are the instructions to adjust the rotational limit stop. The directions are on page 7.

Apparently I have very good water pressure and the pressure is much too high. I run out of hot water before I ever finish my shower. Is there a replacement that goes with this set that I can change out to control the volume of water coming out of the shower head and spout? the middle piece that controls the on and off I guess is what I would need.

I know I can chnage the shower head but that doesn't sole the issue when I run bathwater.

Thank you for your question. The Celice series is only available for tub/shower combination in the 1400 series. The 1400 series only has temperature control on the handle. If you would like to control the volume too, you will need to switch out your trim for a 1700 series model in another style.

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 144984-OB-A contains the valve assembly in the box for a complete faucet. It is not compatible with a Moen valve and the valve will need to be replaced with a Delta valve to be able to use this faucet.
