Lahara Single Handle Lavatory Faucet with Touch2O.xt™ Technology 4 5 2 2
Fanastic faucet when it works. I love this faucet when it works, but it has stopped working twice in the year that I've had it because of defective solenoids. Delta customer service has been excellent in supplying the necessary repair parts in speedy fashion, but it is frustrating to be without a bathroom faucet for a week or two every six months. Very nice product. We purchased this faucet as a replacement. The no touch technology is awesome and is really great for the grandkids since they do not need to touch anything when they wash their hands. They can simply waive their hand under the faucet -- it automatically turns off when they are drying their hands. It was a little tricky at first to get the hang of it but now it is second nature. Is the spout two piece?

There is a line on the side of the spout or looks like a line. I want to avoid a faucet that can collect toothpaste, etc. in any design.

Why is hot water flow very faint?

Lines do not appear to be pinched, yet the hot water flow is very faint...just a small drizzle. Setting on the faucet is on 1 and the handle goes all the way to the left, but the flow is no where near how it is for the cold water.

Answer:
As a follow up to my own question: I purchased two of these models and tried switching parts around to narrow the problem, but that didn't help. On a hunch, I took the shut-off valve apart and discovered that the little rubber gasket on the end of the shut-off valve handle had deteriorated and was blocking part of the valve opening. I replaced the gasket and the faucet worked perfectly.

When I installed the second unit, the identical same thing happened! However, I knew what to do this time! Sure enough, the gasket on it was blocking the inlet flow as well. The simple act of opening and closing the shut-off valve will eventually wear this gasket.

Thanks to the person who responded earlier and mentioned about checking the plumbing, because that was exactly the problem. Both units are working perfectly now.

Hands Free Mode is not working

I see there is a way to disable Hands Free mode, is there a way to re-enable it?

I was doing some work under my sink and now Hands Free mode is not working, I am thinking I must have disabled Hands Free mode by mistake while working.

Is there a way to adjust the motion sensitivity of this faucet?

I would like to extend the motion sensitivity of the faucet by a couple of inches. The water shuts off when people are soaping their hands and then takes a couple more waves of the hand (sometimes more) to get it flowing again.

If the proximity can't be adjusted, can the motion sense be shut off completely so it becomes a touch faucet?

thanks!

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 538T-SS-DST is equipped with touch free and a hands free mode. The proximity cannot be adjusted and is 3 inches from the spout. If someone soaping their hands removes their hands from the zone, the water will turn off.

If you would like to de-activate the hands-free mode, please follow these instructions:
1) Tap the spout 6 times within 4 seconds.
2) the LED indicator light will flash red/blue.
3) Tap the spout an additional 6 times within 4 seconds of the flashing red/blue LED indicator light.
4) The LED indicator light will flash red/blue a second time to indicate the hands-free mode has been de-activated.
5) The tapping sequence can be done with the handle in the ON or OFF position.

How do I get this faucet tightened down to the sink?

Seems that no matter how hard I turn the tool to tighten the nut, that the faucet keeps slipping on the sink. I'm afraid of breaking the plastic tool that came with the faucet; and afraid that if I try to use a regular wrench that I'll break something else. Help!

Answer:
To clarify, when the solenoid unit is not working properly, is there a tool/part to connect the input hose to the output hose. This would allow the faucet to be used while waiting for parts.

When posing the original question, I thought this would be answered by Delta support.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model #538T-SS-DST has a solenoid that is not recommended to be bypassed. You can put the faucet in manual mode by making sure that water is running and then disconnect the battery pack. It will then run in manual mode. If you are having issues with your faucet, please contact our Home Owner/Warranty line at 800-345-3358.
