Rated 5 out of 5 by Another solid Delta Product We have installed 6 or 7 of these. The valve being the same for so many Delta products makes the brand a great option for contractors. This trim kit met my clients needs and design requirements. It also gave them a great value balancing price and quality. I am definitely a fan of Delta and will continue to suggest their products. Answer:
Hi Jon, Thank you for your question. To remove the handle on the model BT14496-OB faucet you will first have to pry the button off of the end of the handle. Once the button is removed you can access the screw that holds the handle in place. Remove the screw by unscrewing it in a counter-clockwise direction. The handle can then be pulled from the faucet. Here is a link to the parts diagram for your faucet to help with the repair.

A question and a comment

Hello,

Replacing two tub/shower trims in my home. Installation wasn't to bad except for one I feel since I paid for a valve I should be able to exchange it for the RP19804 that mine requires. Instead I have to buy that one and have no idea on what to do with the one that came with the unit. For now I'm using the existing valves. But that's just a comment, now for my question.

Is removing this adaptor on my copper pipe the only way to get my tub spout on? You would think delta off/delta on would be simple. My new spout won't fit on this connection. I've tried to get the adapter off but no luck. No set screw, won't unscrew, I'm assuming it's soldered on. Seems Delta would have something that would screw into the front of the new spout that would take the existing connection. (Like the spout that came off did) Any suggestions would be appreciated. I'm waiting for this reply before taking a torch and trying to get that adapter off. I'm assuming if I can get it off the new spout simply slips on and I tighten the set screw.

Thank you!

Answer:
Hi Alan, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately we do not offer a (OB) oil rubbed bronze diverter tub spout that uses the RP12307 tub spout adapter currently installed with your faucet. The new spout is a slip on spout which will slide on 1/2" copper pipe and attach with a set screw. You will need to remove the current adapter to make the new spout work.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Hi Chuck, Thank you for your question. The BT14496-OB tub and shower trim will work with an older 1300/1400 series rough in valve. The new trim will ship with a new cartridge. This cartridge will not work with the older rough in valve. You will have to continue to use the existing cartridge or replace it with a new RP19804.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Hi Mel, Thank you for your question. The trim refers to all of the external parts of the faucet. This would include the showerhead, tub spout, escutcheon plate, and handle. The rough refers to the rough in valve that is plumbed behind the wall. Both the rough and the trim together create a complete faucet.
Thanks,
Dave

What type of rough-in can I use with this model?

The product page says to use MultiChoice Universal rough valve body. But there are quite a few different models.
Can I use R10000-UNWS or R10000-UNBX? What is the difference by the way?

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # BT14496-SS can be completed with any of the R10000 models. The difference between Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX and R10000-UNWS is the R10000-UNWS is equipped with screwdriver stops on the valve. This allows the user to turn off the water at the valve to do work on the shower instead of turning off the water in the whole house.
