What does trim and rough valve mean?

Answer: 
Hi Mel, Thank you for your question. The trim refers to all of the external parts of the faucet. This would include the showerhead, tub spout, escutcheon plate, and handle. The rough refers to the rough in valve that is plumbed behind the wall. Both the rough and the trim together create a complete faucet.

What type of rough-in can I use with this model?

The product page says to use MultiChoice Universal rough valve body. But there are quite a few different models.
Can I use R10000-UNWS or R10000-UNBX? What is the difference by the way?

Answer: 
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # BT14496-SS can be completed with any of the R10000 models. The difference between Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX and R10000-UNWS is the R10000-UNWS is equipped with screwdriver stops on the valve. This allows the user to turn off the water at the valve to do work on the shower instead of turning off the water in the whole house.
