Delta MultiChoice® Universal Tub and Shower Valve Body 4.4 5 11 11
Pleased Though I purchased this product several weeks ago, I found its installation quite easy. It not only has soundness of material, but it also made our renovation pleasant and smooth. The shutoff components on this Valve Body will no doubt make any future repairs easy and convenient. July 30, 2013
Very convenient The service stops on this rough in valve are very convenient for our "only bathroom" remodel. I'm able to shut off water at the valve in order to finish my tile. A must for a project that is the only existing bathroom. ~J~ September 29, 2014
Great product! Great product! This rough-in valve has service stops (shuts off the water) that the local Delta warehouse hasn't even seen yet! Every aspect of dealing with FaucetDirect has been excellent! July 25, 2014
Universal shower body Another high quality product from Delta, cheap good quality and matches with almost any cartridge manufactured for Delta, easy to work with. December 3, 2013
Universal Mixing VLV Easy to install and provides great water control. Works well and the service stops are a real time saver. May 13, 2014
Exactly what we needed! We were happy to be able to find exactly what we needed at Direct Faucet to do our bathroom remodel. June 2, 2014
Confused This is for a more commercial application so unless you have 20 showers. You will not need this.... July 21, 2014
Great company Since we found this company, it's the only company we shop for our plumbing supplies. May 19, 2014

Answer:
Hi Robin, Thank you for your question. The only extension kit available for the R10000-UNWS works if you are using a 17 series thermostatic trim. The part number is RP75136.
If you are using a T13, T14, or a T17 series pressure balanced trim, there is no extension kit available that will work with the R10000-UNWS.
Thanks,
Dave

Difference between R10000UNBX and R10000UNHF

What exactly is the main difference between the UNBX and UNHF? I understand the UNHF has no tub port as it is capped off at factory. If I took the UNBX, capped off the tub port, does that make it HF? Is there actually a higher flow rate coming through the UNHF model as opposed to the UNBX model, or is it just the tub port being capped that makes the UNHF a high flow?

Answer:
Hi J, Thank you for question. The R10000-UNHF does not have a port to the tub spout at all, not just the R10000-UNBX capped off. The capped off R10000-UNBX would offer a higher flowrate than one using the tub spout, but not as high a flowrate as the R10000-UNBXHF.

Dave

Was R10000-UNBX valve body used with 1343 valve 11 years ago?

I am about to rebuild my 11 year old shower that was installed with a Delta 1343 valve at that time. I will be taking down the walls and retiling. I plan to replace the shower trim package. Was the R10000-UNBX body used then and, if so, should I replace it with a new valve body?

Answer:
Hi Bitsmasher, Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNBX would not have been used in the model 1343 faucet from 11 years ago. The valve was introduced in February of 2006. You will be able to use the new T13/14 series trims with your existing valve body. The new trim ships with a new cartridge but you would have to continue to use the existing cartridge or replace it with a new RP19804.
Switching the valve body out to a new R10000-UNBX multichoice universal rough would allow you to install any of our faucet trims and allow you to switch out finishes, or upgrade the faucet in the future without changing the valve.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Hi Yxetower,

Thank you for your question. To make your shower system function properly, we recommend using Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX rough-in valve. You will also need a supply elbow for your handheld shower. We recommend model # 50570.

Thanks.

Delta MultiChoice Valves

I am building 2 bathrooms and am looking at Delta faucets, etc. However, I have been warned to stay away from plumbing fixtures that have plastic pieces. Can you tell me if there is any plastic in the multichoice shower valve and what type of cartridge does the valve have? Ceramic, the new DST? Thank you.

Answer:
Hi bkj03, The R10000 multichoice universal rough is made of brass. The rough will take our RP46074 single function pressure balanced cartridge, the RP46463 dual function pressure balanced cartridge, and the RP47201 dual function thermostatic cartridge. The cartridges use polymer seals, they are not ceramic.

What is flow rate on R10000-UNWS?

As part of a new shower install, the plumber used the R10000-UNWS and a Series 13 single handle shower. The water pressure at the shower head seems very low compared to the old installation. Even without a showerhead in place it's very low. The stops on the valve body seem to be in full open.

Is there any other adjustment possible to increase flow rate which I've measured at about 1.5 gpm?

Answers

Answer:
Hi Calico, Thank you for your question. The flowrate of the shower port on the R10000-UNWS valve using a 13 Series trim is 4.35 gpm at 40 psi, 5.6 gpm at 60 psi, and 6.5 gpm at 80 psi. The showerhead itself can be rated at 1.5, 2.0, or 2.5 gpm depending on the actual trim that you selected. You may want to switch to a showerhead with a higher flowrate if the one that came with your trim is only a 1.5 gallon per minute model.

Dave

How do I know which rough-in valve I need?

I'm remodeling our bathroom and going with the Delta windemere tub/shower trim kit with the RP46074 cartridge. It indicates that I need to go with the multi-choice R10000 rough-in valve, however there are several to choose from. How do I know which one I need?

Answer:
Hi Liz, Thank you for your question. The R10000-UNBX is the most commonly used version of the rough. If you want to be able to shut the water off at the faucet when doing any repairs the R10000-UNWS will work for you as well.

Will R10000-UNBX work with T13691-SOS-15 trim kit (Monitor 1300 series trim on box.)

Good afternoon,
I bought the R10000-UNBX rough in valve. I also bought the T13691-SOS-15 trim kit (Monitor 1300 series trim only tub/shower w/ cartridge fits multi choice Universal valve - on box.) From my research it seemed like the rough in valve worked with all the new trim kits. I'm not sure it will work with this one as there is a diverter valve hole in the trim plate. And I do not see a diverter valve with trim kit or rough in valve.
If I need to buy the diverter valve could you please provide the part number?

Answer:
Hi Staceman, Thank you for your question. The T13691-SOS-15 is one of our commercial tub/shower faucet trims. The rough that includes the push button diverter that goes with the trim is the R10300-UNWS. The R10000-UNBX will work with any of our other new trims.

Do i need a in-wall diverter?

I have a Multichoice R10000 rough in kit and a multichoice T14059-rb monitor 1400 diverter trim valve.
I am hooking up a shower head and a handheld shower head on a bar w/ a supply elbow and need to divert one to the other.(there will not be a tub spout)
Im not sure if I bought the right thing. Do I need a in-wall diverter? I cant put a in-line by the shower head because the person is handi-capped and will not be able to reach high.
Thanks

Answer:
Hi E&A Tile, Thank you for your question. You will want to plumb in a diveter. The R11000 diverter rough and the matching T11859-RB 3 setting diverter trim will allow you to use each showerhead individually or both at the same time.

Use of pex between R10000 and R11000

I'm using your R10000 valve and R11000 diverter, for a fixed and hand-held shower installation (no tub.)

Based on research I've already conducted I'm planning on installing the R10000 upside down (ie, using the tub spout outlet) and plugging the shower outlet instead, to maximize pressure to the diverter.

The R10000 installation instructions stipulate one restriction only; that is, that copper MUST be used for the tub spout drop.

My question, therefore, is this: can I use pex between the tub spout outlet and the diverter input?

Thank you.
