Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 24 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5 by Versitility Check review for T17430-MTS. Will be used in conjunction with it. Even though we've had this product for a year, have not had a chance to install yet. Was looking for unit with separate water volume and temp control. Could not find at local stores, found on line. Started looking at units knowing we wanted to replace existing cruddy ones with parts missing at some time. When these were found, went ahead and made the purchase. So at this point can only say they look good and will serve the purpose. March 2, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by BEST VALVE This is a universal pressure balance valve. I love this product because it truly is UNIVERSAL with any delta trim sets! It is extremly simple to install and even more simple to operate. I highly suggest using this valve when you are remodeling your bathroom. January 12, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by Shower Head is Leaking Had Delta Model 10000 valve put in with a shower head about 13 months ago. Shower head is now dripping. Hate to see new product not performing so soon after installation. April 23, 2013
Rated 2 out of 5 by shower head is dripping the shower head is dripping just 4 months after we renovated our bathroom. I would think the shower head would last much longer than a few months February 19, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality Rough-in Valve (Explicit and Clear Installation Instructions) It works. You need to explicitly follow the instructions as installing this exactly as required is critically important. Making sure the plasterboard ends up flush or back a 1/4" from the surface of the finished surround is very important. The hot and cold stops work very well and make for easier maintenance. On most installations you won't need the plasterboard once you have the valve permanently in place, but it is a great guide to mounting this properly. It is all in the instructions which have plenty of excellent diagrams and figures. Some of the best instructions I have seen for a product. Finally, this vendor's website and presentation made it easy to find and know that I was buying the right valve. January 8, 2016
Rated 1 out of 5 by Leaking After One Week Had a professional plumber install. Everything was fine. Did the tile and installed the bathtub hardware and it started dripping from the spout. Called Delta and they are going to send replacement parts. You'd think if you buy a more expensive valve it would work for more than a week! October 7, 2015
Rated 4 out of 5 by Pleased Though I purchased this product several weeks ago, I found its installation quite easy. It not only has soundness of material, but it also made our renovation pleasant and smooth. The shutoff components on this Valve Body will no doubt make any future repairs easy and convenient. July 30, 2013
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very convenient The service stops on this rough in valve are very convenient for our "only bathroom" remodel. I'm able to shut off water at the valve in order to finish my tile. A must for a project that is the only existing bathroom. ~J~ September 29, 2014

how many turns to fully open "stops"

Can't seem to find how many turns to fully open the stops after testing valve and connections. I do o not want to sacrifice water pressure by not opening enough, yet I do not want the risk leakage by opening too far. exactly how many revolutions do you open when you put the valve in service to consider it "fully open". Thank you

Hi Bob,

Thank you for your question! The supply stop with stop turning when it is fully opened, and should remain water-tight. From the fully open position, the stops can be tightened 3 turns without a noticeable reduction of flow.

Will the Delta MultiChoice Universal Tub and Shower work with other brand name faucet/shower trims/cartridges?

Also, will it work with a two shower head configuration. If so, what other valves or cartridges would it need to keep temperature and pressure consistent if both were used simultaneously?

Hi SE, Thank you for your question!
Our Delta products are manufactured to only be used with other Delta products. We are unable to tell you if our rough in valve will work on other brands trims/cartridges. Also, the valve is not manufactured to control two separate shower heads. You will need either a shower arm diverter or a in wall diverter such as our R11000 3 port 6 function diverter with your choice of trim.

Dear Kathy,

Thank you for you question!

Yes, the R10000-UNWS valve can be used for either a tub/shower or shower only application. When you are installing it for shower only, simply cap the bottom port of the valve.

Daniel.

What is considered the "finished wall" for installing a Delta R10000 Multi Choice value in an acrylic walk in shower unit??

For installing with a MAXX shower unit, the plasterguard should be flushed with the acrylic wall section (that is, the same as if you were installing with a tiled wall)?

Hi Jerry67,

Thank you for your question. That is correct! The finished wall will be the final surface after everything is installed. The acrylic wall section would be considered the finished wall in your installation.

Hello Michael,

Thanks for your question!

The R10000-UNBX will work in a tub only installation. However, you will need to cap the bottom port since you are not using a tub spout.

I hope this helps!

R10000 Rough in Body w/Stops version. (17T)

On either side of the valve body, there are two (2) mechanical stem and nut assemblies. I assume, when turning the stem(s) clockwise, and the stem(s) bottom out, this will stop the flow of water completely.
Conversely, if I turn the stem counter-clockwise the flow of water increases. How can I tell, without backing the stem out further than need be, will I get full flow?
Instructions say " adjust stem clockwise to close, and counterclockwise to open".
I'm not sure if I understand the purpose of these stops.

Thanks

Answer:
Hi Rick,

Thank you for your question. These stops are designed to turn the water off directly at the valve during installation or repairs. They should be left in the open position when the trim is installed, as the cartridge will be used to turn the water on and off.

Answer:
Hi Doug,

Thank you for your question!

The hole for the valve should be cut to the size of the plaster guard which is 4" x 4".

The hole for the size of the tub spout should be at least 1/2" for the pipe to fit through and no larger than the diameter of the tub spout, which is 3 1/8" on this model.

UNBXHF or UNWS for shower-only installation?

Help! Plumbing supply store can't get UNBXHF valve initially recommended and is offering UNWS instead. However, I can get the UNBXHF from another retailer. This is for shower-only installation (single shower head) in a stand-up shower. Can you help me decide which one will work better for me? I like the independent temperature/volume control feature so I can adjust flow in the shower independent from the temperature control. Thank you.

Answer:
Hi Rebecca,

Thank you for your question! If you are using a shower only, with no other components (hand showers, body sprays, etc), then you can use either of these valves. The UNWS version includes is With Stops (WS), which allow you to turn the water off at the valve in the wall while installing the trim or doing repairs, and the tub spout port can be easily capped off by a plumber for a shower only installation.

The temperature and volume control will be determined by the trim kit you use. Based on what you have described, you will want a 17 or 17T series trim.
