Delta MultiChoice® Universal Tub and Shower Valve Body 4.4 5 11 11
Pleased Though I purchased this product several weeks ago, I found its installation quite easy. It not only has soundness of material, but it also made our renovation pleasant and smooth. The shutoff components on this Valve Body will no doubt make any future repairs easy and convenient. July 30, 2013
Very convenient The service stops on this rough in valve are very convenient for our "only bathroom" remodel. I'm able to shut off water at the valve in order to finish my tile. A must for a project that is the only existing bathroom. ~J~ September 29, 2014
Great product! Great product! This rough-in valve has service stops (shuts off the water) that the local Delta warehouse hasn't even seen yet! Every aspect of dealing with FaucetDirect has been excellent! July 25, 2014
Universal shower body Another high quality product from Delta, cheap good quality and matches with almost any cartridge manufactured for Delta, easy to work with. December 3, 2013
Universal Mixing VLV Easy to install and provides great water control. Works well and the service stops are a real time saver. May 13, 2014
Exactly what we needed! We were happy to be able to find exactly what we needed at Direct Faucet to do our bathroom remodel. June 2, 2014
Confused This is for a more commercial application so unless you have 20 showers. You will not need this.... July 21, 2014
Great company Since we found this company, it's the only company we shop for our plumbing supplies. May 19, 2014

I know ws = with stops. What are the stops for? Also, HF = high flow. What does that mean compared to one without hf?

does hf mean that it uses more water? Does it mean there would potentially be more pressure?

Answer:
Hi John, Thank you for your question. The stops allow you to shut the water off at the faucet instead of shutting off the water to the whole house if you need to do maintainance or repair the faucet.
The HF rough is for shower only. The valve does not have the tub port which allows for a higher flow rate. The rate difference depends on your household water pressure, valve, and trim choices.

Dave

i installed 13/14, 17 & 17T series MultiChoice valve trim 4 years ago. Been have trouble since. When the Kids give the grand kids bath the water trickles out the shower head too! Strong out of tub. Seems when we open sink valve the shower head slows down a bit so we think it's the excellant water pressure in the house. Delta said to use R10000-UNWS valve body instead???

Answer:
Hi George Z, Thank you for your question. Most likely, you are experiencing "shower-rise" where the water can’t get out of the spout as fast as it flows through the valve. This causes the water to back up and come out the shower head. There can be one of several reasons for this:

The valve could be upside down
The length from the valve to the tub spout is outside of the 8" to 18" rule
There is more than one 90-degree angle
Something other than copper or galvanized pipe was used going to the spout
The most common reason is that there is something restricting the water flow to the spout, e.g. solder or something lodged in the pipe. Something is impeding the flow of water to the spout and causing it to back up and go out the shower head. If this is the cause of shower-rise it is possible to remove the blockage by removing the tub spout; then, feeding a plumber’s snake or a speedometer cable up through the tub drop. The act of feeding it causes it to twirl and loosen the blockage. Be sure to flush the valve before reinstalling the tub spout. Be sure to check the tub spout itself for blockage.
If none of these help, you may need to call a plumber. After the shower has been installed and the wall has been closed, there is little that can be done to remedy this situation yourself.
There would be no benefit to switching the valve body.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Hi Ed, Thank you for your question. The plug should fit into the port until it bottoms out. This will leave approximately 1/8" of the plug exposed. The plug should slide in without the use of a hammer especially when the flux is added prior to sweating.

Answer:
Hi Dmead009, Thank you for your question. The R10000-UN multichoice universal rough uses our 13/14 series cartridge RP46074, our 17 series dual function cartridge RP46463, and our 17T thermostatic cartridge RP47201.
You need the appropriate trim that matches each cartridge.

How to use with 13 series trim

I recently purchased the T13020-SS trim (13 series), however I cannot install the cartridge for it because the cartridge is longer in depth than can fit into this valve body. The current cartridge in the valve body is the RP46463 (17 series), which is shorter than the 13 series cartridge.

Is there a way to make the 13 series cartridge fit in this valve body?

Answer:
Hi John, Thank you for your question. The RP46074 cartridge that comes in the T13020-SS trim will work with a R10000-UNBX multichoice valve. Please verify that the 17 series cartridge adapter RP46073 that is part of the RP46463 cartridge is no longer in the valve body.

If your existing valve is older than February 2006 it is a pre-multichoice valve and the current 13 and 17 series cartridges do not work in the older rough in valve.

Dave

What can I do if my valve body is set too deap

I have a shower only application with multiple heads. Installed was a R10000-UNWS valve body and then a R11000 diverter. The shower walls were floated and then tiled. I followed the installers recommendations for the depth of the valve body and the diverter. After the tile was installed the valve body and diverter are now set too deep (about 1 1/4 inch) into the wall. Is there anything that can be done to allow the trim kit and handle it fit without having to tear into the wall and reset the valve body and diverter?

I purchased Delta trim kit T17T253 for info.

Answer:
Hi Chuck, Thank you for your question. There is no difference between the R10000-UN and R10000-UNBX. The R10000-UN is sold in case quantities of 12 pieces only. The R10000-UNBX can be purchased individually. The advantage of using the R10000-UNWS is that if you need to work on or service the tub/shower faucet you will be able to shut off the water supply at the faucet and not have to shut off the water to the rest of the house.

Dave
