Copper pipe length for RP64721 tub spout

To install a slip on tub spout RP64721 what should the length be of the copper pipe coming out of the wall? Right now it is too long so I need to cut it (5"), but I put the spout on to try it and it seemed like it stopped after about an inch, seems like it should go further into the spout to me.

Answer:
Hi Derek, Thank you for your question. When installing the RP64721 slip-on tub spout, the tubing should be cut 1 ½ – 2 ¾” from the finished wall with a tubing cutter. Prior to inserting the tube into the adapter, the end should be chamfered free of burrs (on outside of the tube) to prevent cutting or nicking of o-ring. Do not over-tighten set screw.
Thanks,
Dave

Is the threaded connection on this unit the same as Delta RP17454?

Looking to replace my Delta RP17454 tub spout with this unit - RP48718SS. Is the threaded connection the same between these two so the new one would just screw on?

Thanks,
Shawn

Answer:
Hi Shawn, Thank you for your question. Your old spout RP17454 screws onto an adapter RP12307 that is most likely sweated onto the copper pipe coming out of your wall. The RP48718SS is a slide on spout made to attach directly to the copper pipe. The new spout will not work with the old adapter. You will have to remove the adapter to be able to install the new spout. We have several tub spouts that will work with the RP12307 adapter you have in the Brilliance Stainless (SS) finish. They include the RP43131SS, RP42915SS, RP40625SS, and the RP17453SS to give you a few options.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi Marc, Thank you for your question. The copper tube should be at least 2-3/4" long and no longer than 4-1/4" to work with the model RP48718 spout.

Too big of a hole in the tile for the Tub Spout

Hello,
Do you have any kind of trim ring for the tub spout? The person who tiled our shower/tub cut too big of a hole for the spout pipe. When I put the tub spout on, you can see the cut marks.

Thanks,
Bob

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP48718 is 2.6 inches at the widest part. We do not manufacture a trim ring to go behind it. However, we do manufacture a larger tub spout that is 3.5 inches at the widest part. It is model # RP52148. It will need to be either sweat onto a 1/2" copper pipe or thread onto a 1/2" iron pipe. This may cover the hole in the wall.

Please explain "Sweat onto 1/2" CWT"

Does this mean it requires flux and solder to attach to the pipe? Or is it simply the kind of faucet that can slide onto the 1/2" copper pipe with an o-ring instead of being threaded on.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP48718SS is a slip-on spout. It will slip onto a 1/2" copper pipe. If the tub spout does say sweat-on, it does mean using solder to attach it to the pipe.

Also, if you are able to do an iron pipe installation, how do you remove the parts for the copper pipe installation? I have tried to remove the parts but i'm afraid i'm going to break something. Should the copper pipe installation parts just screw back out? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your question. When using the Delta Faucet part # RP48718, the copper pipe should be from 5/8 to 1 5/8 inches from the wall. That measurement is from the wall to the end of the pipe threads.
