Delta Renovation Kit - 600 Series Tub and Shower 4.7 5 3 3
Easy and attractive update to old Delta "crystal ball" shower control This Delta shower renovation kit is an easy way to update those old Delta shower controls to a more modern look. The internal function of the valve gets new valve seats and springs to go with the new control ball that fits the modern handle. This kit did the trick after several attempts to find retrofit handles at the local home improvement store which needed to be returned because they did not fit. It is well worth the investment. 100 Times better than Shiny Brass! So much more up to date, makes my reno look great! September 6, 2014
Easy Conversion I replaced a brass crystal knob faucet with this conversion unit. The conversion was easy. My only problem is that the lever handle seems counterintuitive for hot and cold. With the old faucet, you turned the knob clockwise for cold. With the lever handle, clockwise is for hot. Since the H and C markers are on the top of the escutcheon, one would expect the top of the lever handle to point to the selected water temp, but the opposite is true. When the top of the handle points to C, the handle is turned clockwise, and you get hot water. I realize this orientation may be standard for lever handles. Our kitchen faucet is also clockwise for hot but at least it does not have H and C designations to confuse things. July 25, 2012

Not sure which model this is and which renovation kit will work

I want to purchase a renovation kit for this tub/shower set, but I'm not sure which series it is. The house was built in 1991 and these are the original fixtures. There is a push button diverter. I would like to update it with a brushed nickel or chrome finish kit. Please let me know which pieces I would need to purchase separately, also. Thanks!

Answer:
Hi bmp111, Thank you for your question. If you have to lift the handle to turn on the pictured faucet it would be a 600 series faucet. You can use the RP54870 renovation kit to update the look to a chrome or brilliance stainless (SS) finish. You would want to cap off the push button diverter with RP2865 and then order a finish matching diverter tub spout. You would also need to replace the RP6023 shower arm, RP6025 shower flange, and the shower head of your choice.
Thanks,
Dave

What do I need to replace a knob with a lever?

I would like to replace the existing plastic knob on my shower control to an ADA compliant lever. Photos of the current knob and cartridge are attached.

(1) This knob turns counterclockwise from off through cold to hot with no control of volume. I believe the cartridge number is RP1991. What parts or kits will I need to install a lever?

(2) Is it possible for the new lever to control volume as well as temperature? If so, will I need a different cartridge? What parts or kits will I need to install a lever that controls both volume and temperature?

Answer:
Hi Marjorie, Thank you for your question. All you would need to convert your 1600 series faucet from the acrylic knob handle to an ADA compliant lever handle is the handle itself. We recommend using our RP48717 handle.

It is not possible to convert your existing faucet to a style that would allow you to control both water volume and water temperature. The entire faucet including the rough in valve would need to be replaced. Our current 17 series faucet trims and R10000 rough would offer this option.
Thanks,
Dave

how do you replace the diverter valve assembly on a series 600 delta shower/tub faucet?

water leaks out around the diverter valve stem when in the shower position so I assume the diverter valve assembly must be replaced. If there are other ways to stop this leak please please provide details.

Answer:
Hi Walt, Thank you for your question. If the push button diverter on your valve is not working properly it can be unscrewed and replaced with a new RP5649. You would need to remove the handle and round escutcheon to access the diverter. The push button diverter will unscrew in a counter-clockwise direction.

600 series bath/shower diverter broken

The diverter on my 600 series is broken. It is in the pulled out position, but the water is coming from the shower head and there is a small stream coming from around the diverter when the water is turned on. Under normal function the pulled out position should allow water to come from the bath faucet.
What do I need to fix this, and can I use this shower without water damage (could there be leaking behind the fixture into the wall) until I can make the repair?
I have a second bath faucet with the opposite issue, broken diverter pushed in, but water coming from bath faucet. I cannot pull it out.

Answer:
Hi Deb, Thank you for your question. Replacing the RP5649 push button diverter assembly on both faucets should solve the issue. The RP5649 is available in chrome, (BN) brushed nickel, (PB) brilliance polished brass, and (RB) venetian bronze finishes.
You may want to remove the large round escutcheon plate on the unit that is spraying the water to make sure it is not leaking into the wall during use.
Thanks,
Dave

I also will need the shower arm, drain, flanges, tub overflow disk, etc. Do I buy all those separately and does delta have them...or are they generic? Would those also be available at a store like Home Depot or Lowes?

Answer:
Hi Babs,

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP54870 is the renovation kit for the 600 series faucets. It is everything that you will need at the valve and does not include the tub spout, shower arm, shower flange, or tub drain. You can pair them with any of our showerheads and tub spouts or tub drains by matching the Chrome finish. Check with your local retailer or wholesaler for a wide variety of choices.

Thanks.

Answer:
Hi Steve, Thank you for your question. If you have a 1/2" copper pipe with a male threaded adapter sweated onto the pipe you can cut the adapter off of the copper pipe, sweat on the RP12307 tub spout adapter that comes with the RP34357 tub spout according to the instructions and install the tub spout. If you have a 4" long threaded pipe you will have to switch the pipe nipple out to a shorter length that will extend beyond the finished wall from 5/8" to 1-5/8" and screw on the RP12307 tub spout adapter and then the tub spout itself.

Dave

Answer:
Hi Bob, Thank you for your question. You can try tightening the adjusting ring that is part of the cap under the handle to stop the leak. If this does not help, you will want to replace the cam assembly. The part number for the cam assembly is RP61 if your faucet has a lever style handle, and RP188 if you have the acrylic knob handle. The RP54870 renovation kit would supply all new internal parts.
Thanks,
Dave

We built our house in 1987...using Delta shower/tub faucets. They are antique gold with a shower head, tub spout, and two crystal ball twist hot/cold handles. I am updating...but do not want to change custom tile. Is it possible to change out with newer Oil Rubbed Bronze fixtures using same plumbing infrastructure? Everything still works well. It looks like everything utilizes one handle now...but our handles are spread too far apart (8 inches) to accommodate a 4 inch escutcheon

Answer:
Hi JMc,

Thank you for your question. Based on your description, it sounds like you have a two handle tub shower configuration. We do offer a renovation plate to cover up the holes and convert your faucet to a single handle faucet when you change the valve. It is Delta Faucet model # RP29827RB. You will need to go into the wall to replace the valve but you not need to replace tiles.

Thanks.
