Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 4 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 by Easy Conversion I replaced a brass crystal knob faucet with this conversion unit. The conversion was easy. My only problem is that the lever handle seems counterintuitive for hot and cold. With the old faucet, you turned the knob clockwise for cold. With the lever handle, clockwise is for hot. Since the H and C markers are on the top of the escutcheon, one would expect the top of the lever handle to point to the selected water temp, but the opposite is true. When the top of the handle points to C, the handle is turned clockwise, and you get hot water. I realize this orientation may be standard for lever handles. Our kitchen faucet is also clockwise for hot but at least it does not have H and C designations to confuse things. July 25, 2012
Rated 5 out of 5 by Series 600 retrofit Our 22-year-old outdoor shower had started to leak and was showing wear. I searched the Delta website and ID'd this renovation kit. Although it is supposed to allow you to go from the crystal "snowball" knob to the more modern lever, it worked on our current lever install. I could have just bought pieces parts, but why not buy the entire kit and replace all the springs and washers, etc? Very little cost differential. Should be good for another 22 years! August 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Easy and attractive update to old Delta "crystal ball" shower control This Delta shower renovation kit is an easy way to update those old Delta shower controls to a more modern look. The internal function of the valve gets new valve seats and springs to go with the new control ball that fits the modern handle. This kit did the trick after several attempts to find retrofit handles at the local home improvement store which needed to be returned because they did not fit. It is well worth the investment. Hi FP!

Thanks for your question! Yes, Stainless Steel could be considered a close match to a Brushed Nickel Finish. The RP54870 comes in the Chrome, Stainless Steel, and Venetian Bronze finishes.

Best Regards,
Justin

Re-tiling over existing tiles on shower wall.

I am putting new tiles over existing tiles and this will bring this trim out approx. 5/16". The bonnet nut still shows with about 1/8" clearance behind it and the screws are long enough. The question is; will any of the trim interfere with the movement of the handle and if it does, is there an extension available? The old plastic handle would still work.

What part do I need to fill the gap shown in the photograph?

I recently submitted a question to Delta inquiring if the existing acrylic ball on my 1600 series shower faucet could be replaced with an ADA compliant lever. Thank you for your advise and guidance. The lever (RP48717) fits and accommodates my needs very efficiently.

However, there is still a problem. In the attached photograph, you can see that there is a part missing between the base of the lever and the hole in the escutcheon. The distance from the hole in the escutcheon to the base of the lever is approximately 1-1/4 inches.

What part do I need to fill the gap shown in the photograph?

2 of the reviews noted the position of the H and C symbols as confusing. Don't know when those reviews were written, but I'm considering purchase of this item in May of 2015.

Answer:
Hi Vicki, Thank you for your question. When the RP54870 renovation kit is installed, the lever handle continues to work the same as how the original knob handle operated. You lift up to turn the water on, cold is to the right, and hot is to the left. This matches the H/C on the escutcheon. The confusion is that the bottom of the lever portion of the handle is now pointing the opposite way. It may help to picture this as a single handle kitchen faucet that has cold back and to the right and hot back and to the left.
Thanks,
Dave

Hi AMS, Thank you for your question. If your current faucet/valve is a 600 series and uses the ball assembly, seats, and springs and does not use a cartridge the Leland 14 series trim will not fit.

Answer:
Hi Paul,

Thank you for your question! The RP54870RB will include all of the needed parts for the valve trim on a 600 series. A 600 series handle will tilt up and down to control the volume and left and right to control temperature, as well has having screws at 5 & 7 o'clock on the plate.

The tub spout, shower head, arm, and flange must be purchased separately. Please click the link below to browse our selection.

Answer:
Hi Heather, Thank you for your question. The pictured faucet is a 600 series faucet. We offer the RP54870 renovation kit in chrome, (SS) brilliance stainless, and (RB) ventian bronze that will work with your existing rough in valve. To use the renovation kit you will have to plug the push button diverter with RP2865 and order a diverter tub spout.

Can I change my delta 600 series bathtub/shower faucet with push diverter with different model?

I would like to update my bathtub/shower single handle faucet with push diverter. It is 17 years old and the finish is pretty beat up. I would like to replace it with something other than chrome or stainless steel. Is there any other model that I can change it to without major work from a plumber? Thanks!

Answer:
Hi Alrus, Thank you for your question. The RP54870 is the only renovation option for your 600 series faucet. You would need to plug the push button diverter with RP2865 and switch to a diverter tub spout with this kit.
The other option would be to change the complete faucet, trim and rough.
Thanks,
Dave

Not sure which model this is and which renovation kit will work

I want to purchase a renovation kit for this tub/shower set, but I'm not sure which series it is. The house was built in 1991 and these are the original fixtures. There is a push button diverter. I would like to update it with a brushed nickel or chrome finish kit. Please let me know which pieces I would need to purchase separately, also. Thanks!

Answer:
Hi bmp111, Thank you for your question. If you have to lift the handle to turn on the pictured faucet it would be a 600 series faucet. You can use the RP54870 renovation kit to update the look to a chrome or brilliance stainless (SS) finish. You would want to cap off the push button diverter with RP2865 and then order a finish matching diverter tub spout. You would also need to replace the RP6023 shower arm, RP6025 shower flange, and the shower head of your choice.
Thanks,
Dave
