Leland Monitor® 17 Series Shower Trim
Not as expected
I thought this valve trim and cartridge combo had separate flow and temperature control. Not so. You have to have the flow control valve fully open in order to get your hot water at the setting you want. If you try to decrease the flow the water gets colder. Seems like it works like any other single handle valve. I called Delta customer service and they said that was how it is supposed to operate as a safety feature. I mentioned it made it more dangerous since I would have to increase the temperature at anything other than full flow and if I then increased flow I would get much hotter water. So, you do have a separate temperature control handle but you really can't adjust flow separately and maintain your desired temperature.

The Family Loves This
This is a replacement for a shower built around 1978. The install worked out great, looks good and has a SUPER Shower Head. It was a Do-It-Yourself install. The whole family really loves this shower head. It uses a small amount of water, yet at the same time gets you wet all over really fast. It feels like a light sprinkling massage. Temperature and water volume are very easy to control. One of the reasons I bought the unit was its ability to adjust both the water temperature and force of the shower stream. Many units today only allow the temperature to be controlled while the force is full on.

Love the separate controls for water flow & temp
The two main reason for choosing this unit are (1) the ability to control the amount of water flow separately from the temperature of the water and (2) the H2O shower head.
I definitely love having the ability to adjust the temperature of the water without effecting the water pressure.
As for the shower head, it seemed to restrict a lot of water flow, and so the plumber suggested that we remove the small filter within the head. I figured that since we had the water flow control, there wouldn't be a need to have a separate restrictor in the head, so I had him remove it. (Note that it cannot be put back, since it had to be broken to snap out.) Everything works fine, but I probably should have used the shower for a while with the filter in the shower head to really see if I wasn't happy with the amount of water flow before removing it, since it was designed to save water and now I'm probably using more than I need to be.
But overall, it works great! Even at higher pressure, the water doesn't sting like needles as with my previous shower head which had very fine holes for the water.

I was a little concerned with the h2o technology but I can not tell the difference between this shower head and a normal full flow version.
