Rated 5 out of 5 by We love this faucet. The different modes are great. My family loves the different spray modes. I like the fact that I don't have to adjust the temperature every time I take a shower. Also, the bathroom does not steam up like it did before. Very happy with this product. Each of our two bathrooms has the faucet. May 20, 2016
Rated 4 out of 5 by Like the seperate temperature control I purchased this faucet because the temperature control is seperate from the on/off control. It works great but during installation you may have to adjust the handle assembly so the water is off while your are installing the handles. The instructions do not explain how to do this so you will have to figure it out yourself. Also, the pull down on/off switch for the shower is not quick. The water has to be coming from the shower completely before you can release the pull down knob. If you are not patient you will not like this. I would buy this again as I like how it works. Rated 3 out of 5 by does the job I renovated 2 baths recently. In the first I used Kohler shower/tub faucets which don't allow you to control the volume of water unless you spend a few hundred extra for another handle and additional plumbing. With this model from Kohler you can control the volume, and it works well. The overall appearance is its negative. It looks a little flimsy. This is in contrast to the Delta kitchen faucet I recently bought, which is solid as all heck. October 12, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by shower fixture set review This product was exactly what I needed and the style + finish were exactly what I wanted. The product came in excellent condition with no scratches or chips to finish. Packaging was economical yet did the job. This not only protected the product but also saved in shipping costs and environmental excess waste. Thank you for stocking and offering great quality, hansome fixtures at affordable prices. Rated 3 out of 5 by Small detail never mentioned We bought this tub and shower trim to match the shower-only fixture we had in another bathroom that we love - the separate temperature and pressure controls. But in a tub, you have to pull out a ring in the faucet to get the shower to come on, and you can't keep it in 'shower only' mode like every other tub faucet I've ever used. So it gets points removed for this... October 22, 2010
Rated 5 out of 5 by Well made & solid I bought this because it had controls for hot/cold, as well as pressure. Just know that "peal nickle" is more yellow in color than silver. So if you are looking for more of a brushed chrome color, this is not for you. August 16, 2008

Classic Monitor 17 Series Tub and Shower Trim

Can you clarify differences between the 3 Classic Monitor 17 Series models?

T17430 (and -MTS and -SOS) have separate volume controls, but only the -SOS is listed as having the dual-function pressure balance cartridge. "Understanding Delta Valve Cartridges" says the dual function cartridge supports separate volume control, but does not say that for the single function cartridge. This seems contradictory - how does the T-17430 and T-17430-MTS with single function cartridges provide for separate volume control? Also, I 'd like to verify whether the spouts for T-17430 and the -SOS are plastic or metal.

Answer:
Hi Harold,

Thank you for your questions. All three models have the dual-function pressure balance cartridge. The tub spouts for T17430 and T17430-MTS are metallic while the tub spout for T17430-SOS is nonmetallic.

Hi Vinny M,

Thank you for your question. The SOS model has a slip-on spout, which requires 2-4" of copper pipe extending from the finished wall.

Tankless Water Heater

My tankless water heater can only produce 3.5 GPM of Hot Water in the winter months. Which Delta shower valves can adjust volume and temperature to slow the tub fill to this fill rate in the winter so I can use my tub with hot water?

Answer:
Hi Ron, Thank you for your question. We do not offer a valve that can limit the water flow to 3.5 gallons per minute. Our 17 series faucets offer separate volume and temperature control that would allow the user to reduce the flow rate manually based on where they position the volume lever.
Thanks,
Dave

Can the cartridge be put in upside down?

I have a problem that when you try to adjust water temperature the hot and cold are in reversed position.

Answer:
Hi Mike, Thank you for your question. It is possible for the RP46463 cartridge in your 17 series faucet to be installed upside down. Removing the cartridge, rotating it 180 degrees and reinstalling the cartridge should solve your issue. Make sure the words "hot side" on the cartridge match up with your hot water supply side.
Thanks,
Dave

dual function or single function

what is the difference between dual function pressure balance cartridge and single function pressure balance cartridge? Also, I see that there is a dual function thermostatic cartridge - I always thought that the above mentioned cartridges were thermostatic as well? Is this thermostatic cartridge newer? How long has it been around?

Answer:
Hi Jg, Thank you for your question. The single function pressure balance cartridge controls temperature only. The dual function pressure balanced and dual function thermostatic cartridges allows you to control the temperature and volume separately. The RP47201 thermostatic cartridge came out in 2006. The pressure balanced cartridges control temperature through water pressure, the thermostatic through water temperature.

Dave

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T17430 contains a rotational limit stop that may need adjusting to allow more hot water to flow through the valve. Included here are the maintenance and installation instructions for your faucet. The directions for adjusting the limit stop are on page 9.

can I run 5 gpm @ +/- 65 psi through Delta Monitor Shower Valve

I have a 12 year old home with a Delta Monitor valve in the Master bath shower. I am planning to remodel the bath room and would like to install 2 - 2.5gpm shower heads. Can this valve handle the flow volume? The water lines in the home are 3/4" and reduced at the valve. Meter is 1" and service line to house is 1.5" so Valve would be restriction point. Water pressure is over 70psi on city main.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T17430 paired with the R10000-UNBX will flow at 6.0 gpm at 60 psi. We would recommend looping your showerheads behind the wall so they come into one port and you do not lose pressure. The fewer elbow turns you have, the better your pressure will be.
