Answer:
Hi Angie, We are sorry that you are experiencing a problem with your faucet. Most likely, you are experiencing "shower-rise" where the water can’t get out of the spout as fast as it flows through the valve. This causes the water to back up and come out the shower head. There can be one of several reasons for this:

The valve could be upside down
The length from the valve to the tub spout is outside of the 8" to 18" rule
There is more than one 90-degree angle
Something other than copper or galvanized pipe was used going to the spout
The most common reason is that there is something restricting the water flow to the spout, e.g. solder or something lodged in the pipe. Something is impeding the flow of water to the spout and causing it to back up and go out the shower head. If this is the cause of shower-rise it is possible to remove the blockage by removing the tub spout; then, feeding a plumber’s snake or a speedometer cable up through the tub drop. The act of feeding it causes it to twirl and loosen the blockage. Be sure to flush the valve before reinstalling the tub spout. Be sure to check the tub spout itself for blockage.
If none of these help, you may need to call a plumber. After the shower has been installed and the wall has been closed, there is little that can be done to remedy this situation yourself.
Your faucet is equipped with a rotational limit stop that allows you to set the max hot water temperature on your faucet. Making the adjustment to this piece will raise the water temperature in the faucet. Here is a link to the How to adjust the rotational limit stop video. The 17 series portion of the video starts at 1:50 into the video.

What diverter trim is needed for T-17438-ss Lahara Monitor17 series?

I am having a new tub and shower installed. I would like to add the 57021-ss handheld with bar as well. I believe that I need to also purchase the 50560-22 elbow along with the R1000-unbx valve and the R11000 diverter valve so that I can have the hand held work in tandem or separately. My question is, what diverter trim is needed for the R11000 valve to have everything match? I also will purchase the RP693-ss waste assembly but would like to know if that is everything I need or am I forgetting to purchase a part needed to finish this project? Also, I was told at one of the big box stores that even if I purchase the R11000 diverter, I still need to have the diverter at the tub as well. Is this true? Please explain. Thank you.

Answer:
Hi Vicki,

If you are adding just the Delta Faucet model # 57021-SS to your T17438-SS, you will need the T11800-SS diverter trim to complete your faucet. If you add another feature, like jets or another showerhead, you will need the T11900-SS.

We recommend that you use a tub spout diverter when hooking everything up because if you divert the water using your R11000 diverter rough to your tub spout, there will be times when your showerhead and tub spout are on at the same time.

Thanks.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T17438 is equipped with two separate handles that sit on top of each other. One is for temperature control and the other is for volume control.

Answer:
Mark, thank you for your question! We often say that the rough-in valve is the part of the shower unit that you do not see as it is behind the wall. The trim is all the pieces that are visible to the eye. Our most popular rough-in valve is Delta Faucet model #R10000-UNBX. Information surrounding it can be found by following this link:
