I have an existing Delta shower/tub faucet. It looks almost identical to the T17T455 (Victorian) but maybe an older version? I want to upgrade to a newer model and trim but I am trying to avoid having to purchase a new rough in valve and hire a plumber to replace/install. Do all the tub/shower models use the same rough in valve? I am looking to install model 144996-BN or similar. I am looking to install tub shower combo. My old tub spout also has the adapter installed on a copper pipe (welded I assume b/c I cant get it off with a strap wrench). Does the new tub spout work with the adapter or would I have to hire a plumber to cut that off to get the new tub spout installed? Thank you

Answer:
most rough in valves are compatible with the new trim styles...make sure you order the correct tub spout for copper...(should be available). There is normally a set screw underneath the spout to remove it.

Would you please give me the differences in these two models? I see there is a significant price difference and wondered how they differ. Is there an advantage of one over the other? Does one come with extra parts?
Thank you.

Answer:
Hi Suzette,
There is in fact a big difference between the two. The T17455 is a regular monitor 1700 series. The T17T455 is from the same Victorian collection but with a thermostatic cartridge.
TempAssure Thermostatic valves monitor the temperature of the water and adjust the mix automatically to maintain precise temperature control and to keep the water temperature in your shower within a safe ±3° F (±1.6° C). This provides a more consistent temperature than pressure balanced valves can supply. TempAssure valves also feature an adjustable high-temperature limit stop that when properly set helps ensure the handle cannot be turned to a position that is too hot for comfort. And because TempAssure measures the temperature of water, the handle limit stop will not need to be adjusted for seasonal ground water temperature changes. This information can but found under the smart solutions tab. Once your there you can click on Tempassure tab.
Below is a link to this same information.

Hi Suzette,
The most common valve used with all shower faucets is the R10000-UNBX. This valve will allow you to utilize any kind of piping for the shower as well as the hot and cold inlets.

The water coming out of the Model #T17T455-SS tub/shower unit is not hot enough. The water is fine in the other parts of the house including the 2nd shower which does not have the Model #T17T455-SS. I want to know how to increase the hot water flow of this unit.

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T17T455-SS may need the rotational limit stop adjusted to allow more hot water to flow through the valve. Included here are the instructions on how to adjust the rotational limit stop. The directions are one page 8.

I don't know the model, the faucet was already installed when we purchased the house. The faucet looks victorian and has chrome and brass colors. I have a couple of other pictures if needed.

1. Is this feasible?
2. If so, what three way Delta diverter (Venetian Bronze finish) would I need?
3. What Delta rough valve body would I need?
Thank you.
