I've taken out the back screw,

Now do I pull it straight up, or turn it clockwise to remove it.

Answer:
Hi Maria,

Thank you for your question! Once the set screw has been removed, you can pull straight up on the spout to remove it. Some models have an anti-swivel pin that will prevent you from rotating the spout. Otherwise, it may help to swivel it back and forth slightly as you pull up.

Best regards,
Jon

Can this be upgraded with new trim pieces?

I have the chrome version - 18 years old. I would like to change the trim only to brushed nickel. Anything available for this? I see a response from 4 years ago for items T2710 with H64 and A64. Is this still an option available?

Answer:
Hi Linda, Thank you for your question!

If your current tub spout has a set screw on the back side of the spout, then any of our trim kits that start with a T27 will interchange for you. If your current tub spout does not have a set screw on the back side of the spout, then you would need to install a R2707 rough in valve below your tub decking to be able to use the new trim kits. The T2710 and H64/A64 are still available to order.

Answer:
Hi SD, Thank you for your question. As a rule of thumb if the set screw is located on the back of the existing roman tub spout the new trims will work with your existing rough in valves. To verify please remove your existing tub spout and see if your rough in spout connection is the same as the attached picture of the current R2707.

How to repalce an old tub faucet

Customer avatar
by
mmn
Sammamish, WA, USA
I have this (see the image) old Delta Classic Roman Tub Faucet that I am trying to replace with a new chrome version. However, I am not able to remove the old one - I think it is screwed from the bottom of the tub and hence the only option is to break the tiled enclosure around the tub to access the bottom of the tub to unscrew. Does anyone know or can confirm? What is the new model that I would need to buy if I do not want to changed the rough in or anything - all I want is to replace the trim. Any help/insight/suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Hi MMN, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately our new roman tub trims would not be compatible with the pictured faucet rough in valve. The entire faucet above and below deck would have to be replaced.

Answer:
Hi JR, Thank you for your question. Once the set screw is removed the spout should slide off. Often times mineral build up will make it hard to remove the spout. We recommend soaking a towel in a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water and wrapping the towel around the screw opening in the spout. Allow the solution a chance to soak in, the longer the better to help break up the mineral deposits.
If the set screw is located on the front of your current spout, the new trim will not fit. For the new trims to work on an older rough the tub spout set screw should be on the back of the spout. Otherwise the rough will also need to be replaced.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Hi Stev O, Thank you for your question. Although we sell roman tub faucets, we do not sell soaking/whirlpool tubs. We entered the bathing business in October 2014 and this style of tub is not currently offered as part of our product mix. The tub is most likely from another manufacturer.

Answer:
Hi Tony, Thank you for your question. Your model T2710 roman tub faucet uses our RP24096 stem assembly and RP4993 seats and springs to control the water flow. Usually replacing the seats and springs will stop a spout leak but you may need to replace the stem assembly as well. I have attached a link to the parts diagram for the faucet valve to help with your repair.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Hi Ron, Thank you for your question. The set screw is what holds the spout onto the valve. There may be hard water build up making the spout harder to remove. We recommend soaking a towel in a 50/50 mixture of vinegar and water and wrapping the towel around the spout base and set screw hole. This should help break up the mineral build up and allow the spout to be removed.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T2710 is held on by the set screw. It should pull straight up. If it does not, there may be mineral deposits built up preventing it from coming out. We recommend using a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and cold water to remove the deposits.
