Custom shower with multiple components - hand, rain, shower, jets

Building a house and in master shower plan to have a rainhead from ceiling, a hand held shower, and then a fixed shower head and 2 jets on opposing walls (2 shower heads, 4 jets total). The 4 jets will be a single function, the 2 shower heads a single function, the rainshower a single function, and the handheld a single function. Want to be able to have the flexibility to run all 4, 3, or 2 of the functions simultaneously (and sometimes just use one:). What valves do you recommend we procure? What configuration on each valve / port?

Also, we do plan on putting the valves / diverters to the left of the heads / jets (so we can turn the water on without being near the shower heads when we do) - is there any distance limitation (we are planning on 2' to the left)?

(Note: we have planned for 2 water lines into the shower, and roof drains as well as possible pressure boost:)

Answer:
Hi Debra,

Thank you for your question! The maximum flow rate of the valve will be determined by the trim kit that you use, and each port of the diverter will be limited to around 5 gallons per minute at 60 PSI. For this reason, we recommend a set of no more than 3 body jets per port. Another consideration is the hot water supply, as tank heaters may not provide a long shower with many components running at once.

For the setup you have described, we would recommend to have at least two High Flow shower valves (R10000-UNBXHF and trim) with a 6-setting diverter for each (R11000 and trim). This will allow you to control 6 components (shower head, set of body sprays, etc.) and to run up to 4 components at once.

If T17451-SS does not come with cartridge(s) what are the parts needed? It has separate volume and temperature controls; does/do the cartridge(s) serve both functions.

We are also putting a diverter
To save money I'm getting it in two parts:
RP52592SS
RP52590SS
What other parts are needed to install this (including cartridges if needed)

We already have the two valves:
The universal multi-function with stops : R10000-UNWS
And the universal diverter valve: R11000
So we are concerned with cartridges and hardware needed for installation.
Thanks!

Hi Jack Tripper,

Thank you for your question. A pressure balance loop should be used to ensure even flow to all of the body sprays.

Swap Out Hand Held Sprayer

I have A Delta Vero shower system with an overhead shower spray and a hand held spray. I would like to swap the Vero hand-held spray head #RP62954 with a multi-function spray head. I particularly like the Tesla #59552PK spray head. Are these two spray heads interchangeable? If they are NOT interchangeable, can you suggest a multi-function spray head that will work with my Vero shower system.

All of our hand held shower wands are interchangeable. You will be able to use the 59552-PK in place of the RP62954.

Hi Homeowner,

Thank you for your question! With 3 different components, we would recommend to use a 6-Setting Diverter. This will allow you to run each individually or two together, but would not allow you to run all three at the same time.

Hi David,

Thank you for your question. At 60 PSI, you will have a maximum flow rate of about 5 gallons per minute per port. We recommend to install no more than 3 body sprays on an individual port if you will have shared functions. Non-shared applications may allow up to 4.

Jon

I am upgrading a circa 1995 Delta shower and need to know which trim kit and cartridge should I buy? Which showers will then work with it. I want to leave the guts of the plumbing intact.
Will the Ashlyn trim kit work and which cartridge do i need to buy as this is my current favorite.

Answer:
Hi Dawn,

Thank you for your question. The Ashlyn T14 series trim kits, such as the T14264 will work with your existing shower. Please use the original cartridge, or an RP19804, rather than the cartridge that comes with the kit. You may also need a longer trim sleeve, RP39407.

diverter valve needed? In other words, if the 2-1 shower head has a built in diverter, would I still need a multi function valve diverter in order for the water to come out of the fixed portion of the shower head as well as the removable portion of the shower head at the same time?
