Frequently Asked Questions

Faucet & Shower Handles

Can I change my single-handle knob faucet to a lever?

Single-handle lavatory and tub/shower models can be converted from a clear or smoked knob handle to a lever handle. However, the "action" of a lever handle differs from a knob handle so you also need a different ball valve (RP20111) in your faucet for the lever handle to operate properly.

A single-handle faucet converted from knob handle to lever handle will operate slightly differently from an "original equipped" lever model.

Can I change the handles on my two-handle faucet?

Yes. Delta® two-handle kitchen, lavatory and tub/shower models can be fitted with a wide variety of handle styles to suit your tastes. Changing Delta faucet handles is simple and takes less than five minutes.

If you are changing from lever handles to knob or porcelain cross handles, you will need to re-orient the right (cold) handle stem stop so the stem stop faces inward.

If you are changing from knob or porcelain cross handles to lever handles, you will need to re-orient the right (cold) handle stem stop so the stem stop faces outward (both left and right handle stem stops should orient to the right).

Can I use Delta Select or Brizo handles on my regular Delta faucet?

No, the faucet handles fit the same stem assembly, but are not compatible with the rest of the trim.

Which handles will fit on my faucet?

Delta faucets are designed to accommodate the majority of Delta handles. In most cases handle styles are available in different sizes depending on the application of the faucet. For example, tub/shower handles tend to be larger than lavatory handles.

To locate a local source for Delta handles, visit your licensed professional plumbing contractor or Delta showroom. You can also e-mail us or call 1-800-345-DELTA (3358).

Why do my handles work backward on my two-handle faucet?

On a Delta two-handle kitchen or lavatory faucet, if the handles rotate in the wrong direction, simply rotate the right stem stop assembly 180 degrees. This will change the rotation of the faucet handle to the other direction.

One of my faucet handles does not align correctly.

I have a T3568LF-SSWL Ara Two Handle Wall-Mount Lavatory Faucet, and one of the handles lines up correctly (handle points to side when off and straight down when turned all the way on). However when I turn the left handle to the off position, it angles slightly up. Rotating the stem extender one notch makes the handle angle slightly down. What can I do to make this handle line up like the other one?

Answer:
Hi MRM, We are sorry that you are experiencing a problem with your faucet. There will be 2 points of adjustment to get the handles level on the model T3568LF-SSWL. One is moving the handle on the splines of the stem extender, the other is moving the stem extender on the splines of the cartridge itself.
Thanks,
Dave

Series 1400 Single Handle has two hots and two colds

I have a Series 1400 single handle Tub/shower lever. I turn the valve from the cold position to hot and once I get to hot position the water shuts off. Continuing past hot the cold water turns on again, continues to hot and shuts off again. Once coming to the second hot position the lever stops and no longer moves. This is difficult to understand, the movements between the two hots and two colds to mix the water to warm are extremely finite.

Answer:
Hi Keith, Thank you for your question. Based on your description either the rotational limit stop has been removed from the cartridge or the cartridge is broken. Replacing the RP19804 cartridge in your 1400 series faucet should resolve the issue.

Dave

Hi JP, Thank you for your question. The hand shower for the model T4753 roman tub trim is approximately 8-1/2" long from the bottom of the threads to the top of the unit. The water spray pattern begins at 5.65" from the bottom of the wand.

I assume the hot/cold button needs to be removed and the screw underneath tightened. I don't want to scratch the faucet trying to remove the button. Thank you!

Hi Mark, Thank you for your question. The screw to tighten the handle on the model 3596LF-SS faucet is located under the button on top of the handle. You should be able to remove the button with your fingernails without damaging the finish of the faucet.

Dave

I have chrome finish trim for shower tub faucet combo and would like to replace it with brush nickel coordinates without changing the mixing valve. Please recommend the compatible trim (shower head, spout and shower faucet handle) options. Thank you.

Answer:
Hi Sam P, Thank you for your question. We do not offer a trim only that will convert the B114900 to a brushed nickel finish. You can purchase the full faucet model B114900-SS in our brillaince stainless finish and replace the trim on your current faucet. The brilliance stainless finish is a brushed finish similar to other brands brushed nickel.
Thanks,
Dave

The plumbing contractor that roughed-in our bathrooms 7 years ago (2007) installed all Delta 13/14 "OLD-STYLE" Series Universal Rough-in Valve Assembly's. I made it quiet clear from the start that we were choosing a middle price/quality range for all bathroom fixtures and we were assured anything would fit. Or, so we thought. The plumbing contractor bears responsibility for misrepresentation of Delta product(s). But, the plumbing supply house bears equal or greater blame because they sold out what ever "OLD-STYLE" inventory with disregard. I know this now for certain, as I had to go pickup a rough-in valve assembly for the plumbers employees per request because they had whatever vehicle mechanical issues. The supply house gave me a Delta #1448-LHP with Universal Rough-In.

Unfortunately, the supply house went out of business 4-5 years ago. The recession had a severe impact on everyone's lives, including mine.

I need to know if; Delta #T14497 Cassidy Monitor (not Multi-choice) 14 Series Tub and Shower Trim Kit in Stainless Steel will work! If not, what will? I cannot afford to pay a plumber to changed the valve assembly at $500.00 - $650.00 per assembly plus the expense of rocking, compound, priming and painting. More so my family's inconvenience.

Answer:
Hi Rhegion, Thank you for your question. The T14497 trim will work with your existing rough in valve. If you have the 13/14 series trim with the multichoice rough in the cartridge that comes with the new trim will fit your existing rough in. If you have an old 1400 series faucet the cartridge that comes in the new trim will not fit your rough in. You will have to continue to use the existing cartridge or order a new RP19804.
Thanks,
Dave

Can you help identify this handle?

We have a roman tub and one of the lever handles has broken. The house was built in 1993 and these are the original fixtures.

Do you have replacement handle? And if not, which model could be used that most closely resembles the picture?
We'd like to replace only the broken unit and not all three handles.

Thanks.
