Frequently Asked Questions

Faucet & Shower Handles

Can I change my single-handle knob faucet to a lever?

Single-handle lavatory and tub/shower models can be converted from a clear or smoked knob handle to a lever handle. However, the "action" of a lever handle differs from a knob handle so you also need a different ball valve (RP20111) in your faucet for the lever handle to operate properly.

A single-handle faucet converted from knob handle to lever handle will operate slightly differently from an "original equipped" lever model.

Can I change the handles on my two-handle faucet?

Yes. Delta® two-handle kitchen, lavatory and tub/shower models can be fitted with a wide variety of handle styles to suit your tastes. Changing Delta faucet handles is simple and takes less than five minutes.

If you are changing from lever handles to knob or porcelain cross handles, you will need to re-orient the right (cold) handle stem stop so the stem stop faces inward.

If you are changing from knob or porcelain cross handles to lever handles, you will need to re-orient the right (cold) handle stem stop so the stem stop faces outward (both left and right handle stem stops should orient to the right).

Can I use Delta Select or Brizo handles on my regular Delta faucet?

No, the faucet handles fit the same stem assembly, but are not compatible with the rest of the trim.

Which handles will fit on my faucet?

Delta faucets are designed to accommodate the majority of Delta handles. In most cases handle styles are available in different sizes depending on the application of the faucet. For example, tub/shower handles tend to be larger than lavatory handles.

To locate a local source for Delta handles, visit your licensed professional plumbing contractor or Delta showroom. You can also e-mail us or call 1-800-345-DELTA (3358).

Why do my handles work backward on my two-handle faucet?

On a Delta two-handle kitchen or lavatory faucet, if the handles rotate in the wrong direction, simply rotate the right stem stop assembly 180 degrees. This will change the rotation of the faucet handle to the other direction.

Delta Configuration for Roman Tub

Please review/confirm my configuration of rough-in, hand shower, diverter and handles for Roman Tub, Our tub has a built-in "virtual spout" (with no diverter) so a Delta spout will NOT be used. We will use rough-in R2707 with RP72767SSLHP. Regarding handles, per your tech specs for RP14979, handle RP62097 can be used with diverter RP18632, which is identical to the diverter on the proposed RP7276SSLHP, so that handle will be compatible as diverter trim. That same handle is also shown compatible with the R2707 per specs on your T5722, so all three handles can therefore be identical. Please advise my configuration is correct and that I have to buy each RP62097SS and RP62094SS separately. Also, are all Delta Roman Tub handles compatible in this same manner, most specifically the Tesla and Ara? Thanks much!

Answer:
Hi C.G, Thank you for your question!
The RP62097 handles will fit on the R2707 rough in as well as the RP14979 diverter transfer valve. You will need to order the handle and bases if you are not ordering the complete T5722 roman tub trim kit and RP14979 kit.

Answer:
Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your question! The temperature knob cover snaps onto the knob. To remove the cover, pry it off starting at the tip. The knob itself is held in place by a Phillips head screw.

Hi Bobbie,

Thank you for your question. You can install the faucet so the handle is on the left. However, the supply lines will be backwards with the hot supply on the right and the cold supply on the left.

Answer:
Hi Nickname,

Thank you for your question. For models with lever handles, the raised, wedge shaped plastic piece should be on the right on the hot and cold side. The removable 1/4 turn piece should be installed in the back on the cold side and on the front on the hot side. If the faucet has knob handles, the wedge shaped piece should be toward the center on both valves.

Install the bonnet nut, then manually rotate the D shaped stem so that the flat side is facing away from the spout. This will be the off position.

Best regards,
Jon

Hi Sgorman13, Thank you for your question!
You can use the 2480-AR-DST faucet without using the sprayer. The faucet should include a spray cap part number RP54269 when first purchased.

HI PapaFi, Thank you for your question!
The H778 handle that comes with your T14478 has a hidden set screw. The lever portion that you grab onto of the handle un-threads counter clockwise and inside he base portion of the handle there is a small hole that has the hidden set screw. You will need a 3 3/2nd allen wrench to remove the set screw.

Delta #3540 faucet series - unable to find part number

Delta faucet #3540 - SSLHP H240SS. I'm unable to locate a part number so I may order one. The part slides into/onto RP 24096 and RP 24097. I've attached a picture of the part.

Hi M. Slemmer, Thank you for your question!
The part in your photo is the handle insert. There is no part number for that item due to the fact it comes manufactured inside of the handle. You will have to order the entire H240SS handle kit.
