Frequently Asked Questions

Toilets - General

Can I use an in-tank bowl cleaner with my Delta toilet?

No, do not directly drop any cleaning tablet or liquid into the toilet tank. Products containing chlorine or chlorine-related products can seriously damage fittings in the tank if they come in direct contact with these chemicals, which can cause leakage and property damage. Delta Faucet Company shall not be responsible or liable for any tank fitting failure or damage caused by the use of in-tank bowl cleaners.

What are the dimensions of chair height vs. standard height toilets?

ADA-compliant chair height is a minimum of 17 inches and a maximum of 19 inches from the finished floor to the top of the toilet seat. Standard height toilets are typically 14 to 15 inches in height.

What does "chair height" mean?

Chair height refers to the distance from the floor to the top of the toilet seat. An ADA-compliant toilet seat must be between 17 inches (minimum) and 19 inches (maximum) above the finished floor. Delta toilets are ADA-compliant to make sitting down and standing back up easier.

What does gallons per flush (gpf) mean?

Gallons per flush (gpf) is a measurement of the total volume of water used to flush a toilet or urinal. This is sometimes also measured in Liters per Flush (LPF).

What does the WaterSense® label mean?

The WaterSense program is a voluntary partnership program sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) that is designed to encourage water efficiency in the U.S. through the use of a special label on consumer products. In order to carry the WaterSense label, a toilet must use 1.28 gallons or less per flush and remove at least 350 grams of waste as measured by third-party testing. The purpose of WaterSense labeling is to make it easy for consumers to identify products that save water yet do not require a lifestyle change. Delta toilets are WaterSense labeled.

What is the flush performance for Delta toilets?

Delta toilets are WaterSense® labeled and meet or exceed all applicable industry standard tests. They are designed for a maximum flush and are virtually clog free.

What is the warranty for Delta toilets?

replacing toilet bowl.

I have never had this happen to me before, but attempting to help my son install a new Delta toilet in his new home I overtightened the base and "pop" it cracked. So without giving you a sob story is it possible I can purchase just the bottom part of the bowel? I should have provided the model number but I forgot to take it with me after leaving his house feeling like a jerk. If you can just let me know it is possible to purchase a new base that would be helpful and then I will get back to you with the correct information. Thank you.

Hi Jim, We are sorry that you are experienced a problem while installing your toilet. Unfortunately although almost every other part of the toilet is available to be ordered the toilet bowl is not. The entire toilet will need to be ordered.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Hi bowers64, Thank you for your question. All Delta toilets are rated at 1,000g MaP and flush at a Watersense® certified 1.28gpf. This means that Delta toilets have the highest rated flush performance while also being water efficient. With that being said, compared to older toilets on the market that flush 1.6gpf or more, perhaps the one that you are replacing, there may be a “perception” of lower performance. I can ensure you though all Delta toilets are 100% tested and meet or exceed all quality and performance standards found in the industry today.
Thanks,
Dave

Is there a special plunger for the Delta Elongated Toilet?

I can't get either of my plungers to work on the elongated toilet because it can't make a tight seal and water shoots up out the back. Is there a special oval or cornered plunger that will work with the 1.28gpf elongated toilets?

Answer:
Hi Plunging Forever, We are sorry that you are experiencing a problem plunging your toilet. There is not a special plunger required for the Delta elongated toilet. There is nothing unique about our bowl/sump design that should prohibit normal plunger usage. Just make sure you are using a plunger recommended for toilets.
Thanks,
Dave

Re: Prelude Elongated Toilet

Have had toilet for about 3 months and love it. However, it is now "filling" periodically all by itself. What adjustment needs to be made to stop this?

When I flush our new toilet, we have to hold down the lever to get a full flush, otherwise as soon as we let go of the lever the flapper closes. there is a hole in the ball of the flapper which lets the air out rapidly when the lever is let go. most other brands and some replacement flappers do not have this hole in the same location.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. All Delta toilets are high efficiency and water sense certified. This means that they are designed to operate on 1.28 gallons of water (A 20% saving over the older 1.6 gallon models)

When the flapper is actuated it is designed to dose 1.28 gallons of water into the toilet bowl and rim. There is more than 1.28 gallons in the tank and the flapper is designed with a calibrated hole so that after initial activation (it is expected that a handle will be held down for 1 second, which is the standard test carried out to national plumbing standards) it sinks in the time necessary to deliver this amount of water. Water remains above the flapper after the cycle. This is correct use of the toilet.

You might also check the chain length. If it is too long or too short, it could affect your flush.

Thank you for your question. It is possible to add a mixing valve to your toilet supply line to prevent condensation. We do have one available that is shipping out at the end of this month. The Delta Faucet model # is R2910-MIXLF and it can be ordered and purchased from your local retailer or wholesaler.

Just bought 3 Delta HET 1.28 gpf toilets last Fall

Just had my first clog last night. My trusty plunger, round shape, was totally useless - unable to build up pressure due to the square hole shape did not match round shape of the plunger, allowing water / air to escape in the 2 corners. Clog cleared on its own in 2 hours.

Just bought the house last Fall, renovated all 3 bathrooms, kitchen.
