Delta controllers are great

Nice Gliding Features
This is a great shower trim piece because the main handle and temperature control adjuster both slide very easily. I replaced a 7 year old Delta shower trim with this one, and it made a huge difference. My older one had a similar style, but was more difficult to adjust. This style looks modern and classy as well.

Q&A
This unit is available at my local plumbing supplier as well as the big box stores - is there any difference in material, quality, parts, etc?
The unit in the box store had a plastic handle. Is it available with metal handles?
Thank you for your question. As long as the Delta Faucet model # T17051-SS is the same model number in both places, then it is the exact same faucet. It was manufactured the same way and made with the same quality parts. It does have a non-metallic handle on it for this series. There are other series that contain metal handles.

Which rough valve should I order for the DEL T-17051-SS in a new bathroom?
I have seen conflicting information---Home Depot says to use R10000UNBX, but plumbing supply says R10000-UN T&S.
Also, same question for the T14051-SS

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T17051-SS and model # T14051-SS will use the same valve. We recommend Delta Faucet model # R10000-UNBX. The model R10000-UN is the exact same model but it has to be ordered in case packs of twelve so it really depends on which supplier is giving you the best price.

How do I remove the cover (first step in process to replace the seat and springs)?

Thank you for your question. To get to the seats and springs for the Delta Monitor T17051-SS valve trim, first turn the water off at the shut off valve. Pull the temperature cover straight off. Unscrew the Philip's screw to remove the temperature knob. Pull the sleeve off and unscrew the bonnet nut. Pull the cartridge straight out.

Thank you for your question. A 17 series unit, such as this model, will provide about 5.6 gpm (or more depending on the R10000 valve type) from the shower port at 60 PSI.

can this be used with H55051 in a shower?
We are replacing our Delta faucets in our 14 year-old house. The description for the T17051 & T17T051 is "tub & shower". Does this trim work for "shower only" with the H55051 hand-held shower head?

Thank you for your question. This valve trim can be used with a 55051 hand shower. You will also need an R10000 valve and supply elbow.

how do you adjust the temp the plumber adjusted we need to add some more hot water
Thank you for your question, frank! Start by removing the temperature control knob, and rotate the limit stop counterclockwise one tooth for every 4°F - 6°F change in temperature. Place the temperature control knob on volume handle, and rotate to the mixed position. Next, secure temperature control knob with screw, and place the cover back on. I'm looking to buy T17051-SP. I need a different cartridge than the default cartridge included in T17051-SP (to replace a 1994 vintage delta faucet). Is there any way to get the RP32104 cartridge instead of the default RP46463 cartridge that I can't use?

Thank you for your inquiry. The RP32104 is the cartridge for the older 1700 series whereas the RP46463 is meant for the newer MultiChoice 17 series. The RP32104 is available to order as a separate part, but will not come in the box with any of our newer trim kits.

Hello, The specs say 2.5GPM. I assume this is for the shower port. What is the GPM flow capability of the tub port of the valve. I want to use this assembly for a tub filler only..no shower. Would a high flow rough in help flow?
Thank you for your question, Richard! At 60 PSI, the flow rate for from the bottom port of an R10000-UNBX valve with a 17 series trim will be about 6.2 GPM and the R10000-UNWS will run at 5.7 GPM. High Flow (HF) valves are only intended for shower-only installations and will not increase the flow rate to the tub spout.
