Rated 3 out of 5 by from Loved it, for 2 years This faucet was wonderful for 2 yrs, until the calcium in the hard water ruined it. Delta only warranties the faucet, not the labor, so it cost me over $1K to replace it. It's so complicated most plumbers don't know how to install it, and the instructions are terrible. Had to pay for 3 plumber visits, and be without a shower for 2 weeks, and the temperature part is still not fully functional. I'll buy a cheaper faucet next time.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Poor Set Screw Placement I just installed two of these (T17T238 and T17T438). My only complaint is that the set screw on the water volume control handle is positioned on the top (12 o’clock) when the valve is closed. The installation kit included a small (tiny) button to cover the opening. Because of its position, it invites little ones to pick at it — whoops, down the drain. It’s difficult to find replacement buttons because they are not shown on the faucet’s parts diagram. A better design would be to move the set screw hole from the left side of the knob to the right side such that it’s positioned on the bottom of the handle when installed. Other than that, the faucets work great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly designed We installed two of these in a shower and the temperature knob rubs metal to metal and is not smooth. We ordered the same style delta with out the temp assure and it went in perfectly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Falls apart The screw under the temperature control keeps coming loose. I have had to replace numerous parts on 3 different occasions. Thankful for the lifetime warranty. Nice looking, functions are fine, but poor design.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great concept, but... UPDATE This is an update to my previous review. Customer service saw my review & contacted me shortly after the review went live. They concluded that the valve was defective & promptly sent me a new one. After install, all issues were resolved & the unit is functioning as it was designed. I regained full temp control and full pressure (feels like even more than the first one ever did). Thank you Delta Faucet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Great concept, but... I bought this last year as we planned to renovate our bathroom. We finally installed this late in the year as the valve trim is one of the last pieces to go on. For the first few months,(winter time) the valve worked great. Always the same temp, but the pressure would be a little lower on the second shower of the morning. It kept getting worse. Then after a few months, the pressure was a trickle, barely enough to rinse shampoo out of my short balding hair. Now I get 2 options, either pure cold @ full blast or hot @ a trickle. Since I have full blast cold, their is obviously nothing clogged in the showerhead, so that's not the issue. This unit is fed after the hall bathroom sink, but before the master sink, & both of those faucets work perfectly fine with both temp & pressure, so that's not it. This is shower only, no tub so there's nothing else in the way except this faucet. So I started reading the bad reviews for the unit, there are a lot of the same issues, people complaining of low or no pressure. A few said that the temp controlling cartridge gets stuck, so I took the palm of my hand & gave it a whack. Now I get more pressure, but if I turn on shower at a temp & leave it for a few seconds, now o can no longer change the temp of the water. It's stuck at that temp. If I turn off water & wait a couple minutes, still no change in water temp no matter where you set control lever. Why is this even possible, I get either cold full pressure or hot trickle or better pressure but at whatever temp it feels like giving me. There are a not of good reviews, but pay better attention to all the bad reviews also before you purchase. I'm now stuck with a useless shower unless it's super hot outside or if I don't actually want to rinse off. Oh yeah, I can also play roulette & gamble on getting frozen or scalded.

Trim only or cartridge

I am confused by the description. If I order T17T038 do I get the thermostatic cartridge as well as the chrome parts? Also is there a rough-in with a single output for a shower only installation?

Hi JK, Thank you for your question. The T17T038 trim will ship with the thermostatic cartridge. The R10000-UNBXHF is the multichoice universal rough that is made with a single outlet for a shower only installation. Thanks, Dave

fit in older rough in?

I have a 20+ year old monitor setup. Will this fit in the rough in piece in the wall?

What is the difference between the T17038 and the T17T038?

Thank you for your question! The model T17038 has a Monitor pressure-balance cartridge and model T17T038 has a TempAssure thermostatic cartridge. I bought this valve (T17T) along with the suggested rough-in, R10000-UNBX. Do I also need an extension kit?

The parts and accessories diagram shows RP75136, an extension kit for T17T temp-assure valves only. Do I need to order this as well, or is it included with the rough-in or the T17T valve? Or is it not needed?

Dear Lindell, Thank you for your inquiry! The Delta extension kit RP75136 does not come in the box with the Delta Lahara Thermostatic Valve Trim T17T038 model. Does this model provide a higher flow rate than the T17038?

Update to T17T038

We owned T1848 (not sure the rough in model) for eleven years and love Delta's products. Recently doing remodeling and want to update to R10000-UNBXHF with T17T038 for shower only. Will that improves the shower and stream flow? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi DIY210, Thank you for your question! The T17T series, along with the High Flow (HF) R10000 valve, will increase the maximum flow through the valve by about 3.6 gallons per minute at 60 PSI. This will increase the flow rate from the tub spout, and may allow you to run additional components with a diverter valve. However, it will not increase the flow rate from the shower head itself, which is designed to flow at no more than 2.5 gallons per minute. Best regards, Jon

Is this unit completely made of metal?
