Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very nice shower setup [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Very satisfied with this Delta shower setup, controls are nice and smooth to operate. Love setting the temperature and leaving it so you're right in the ballpark every shower, due to the separate volume (on/off) dial, plus the temperature adjustment is very easy and not extremely sensitive so it's easy to fine tune. The tub spout seals off very well, allowing full pressure to the shower head, which produces good pressure (my well water pressure is set at 60/40 psi) capable of hitting the back tub wall chest high. Installation was pretty straight forward, just don't rush it and you'll have no problems. Make sure to adjust the max temp limit to prevent burns if you have HOT water or to give you max heat if you keep your water heater set lower (this can be the most "tedious" portion of install. I don't think I can say much about the thermostatic control as I installed a home run water supply system, so other than cold well water entering the water heater, my shower isn't really affected by other usages, but if it is being impacted at all, I don't feel any temperature change, so then it works great! I like this enough that I bought another one for my other bathroom. The only 'negative' I saw was the foam gasket on the valve trim wasn't near the outer diameter so there's a chance the gasket may not seal off the corners around the rough in valve, so I placed a very small bead of silicone around the valve prior to trim to hopefully deflect any unwanted water around the opening.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect for my rustic cabin My old house in the mountains got a nice makeover, keeping the knotty pine cabin feel, but with a nice, hot, well functioning shower! This product has been perfect: it works well, feels sturdy, and looks just right. The "TempAssure" is important as this is in a MIL apt. so we don't know when others will be requiring hot water. So far no one has reported drastic changes. MOSTLY, I love how it looks and believe it will last a long time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Stain easily Initial experience was very positive (after some tweaking by the plumber though, initially the water going to the spout and shower was not the same temperature, one outlet was getting comfortable temp, the other one, surprisingly, too hot). Once all the glitches were sorted out, everything looked rosy... That is, until the first shower. After that, alas, there were dark water stains all over, despite the fact that satin nickel or stainless steel finishes are supposed to be better as far as stains are concerned. And yes, we do have soft water. Based on that, we decided to return the system we ordered for the other bathroom (Tesla), for it was suffering from the same problem. Other than those unsightly stains, the system works and serves its purpose: you set the temperature once and forget about it. Very convenient for kids.

I have the older 1700 series valve and want to find a newer trim kit in bronze that will work, do I have any options

Hi Reed1639, Thank you for your inquiry! As long as the screw holes on your original large round escutcheon plate are at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions and you do not have a push button shower diverter directly below the off and on handle, then any of the Delta tub and shower trim kits that start with a T17, except for the T17T series trim kits will interchange for you. The Delta Lahara 17 Series Trim T17438 is available is Venetian Bronze, Chrome, Stainless and Champagne Bronze finishes. The cartridges that come with the new trim kits will not fit your valve body (if top of original cartridge is white), so you will need to reuse your existing cartridge (RP32104, white top). https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/T17438-RB Best regards, Tanya

Will this work with an older 1700 series monitor rough in and valve or do you have to upgrade to the newer rough in valve setup?

Hello Reed1639! Thank you for your question. The Delta Lahara TempAssure 17T Series Tub and Shower T17T438 faucet trim kit and cartridge will not install in an older Delta 1700 series valve that was installed before 2006. You would need to replace the rough-in valve with the newer Delta MultiChoice Universal Rough-In R10000-UNBX valve assembly. https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/R10000-UNBX Best regards, Tanya

Is the on/off in the shower in the volume handle or in the temperature handle?

What materials are used in the construction of the handles and tub faucet? Is the plating over metal or plastic?

Hello buyer, Thanks for your question! The T17T438 has a metal volume handle, temperature cap, and escutcheon. The tub spout and the shower head are non-metallic. I hope this helps!

Is this true thermostatic control? Is there more than one type of thermostatic cartridge? I like Linden best, but it doesn't look like the TempAssure is available with Linden.

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # T17T438-CZ has a true thermostatic cartridge. Once you set the temperature, it will not vary within 3 degrees of where you set it. I will pass along your suggestion to manufacture the Linden series with a thermostatic cartridge.
