Pilar Single Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet with Touch2O® Technology 4.7 5 17 17
Great faucet overall Love the design: graceful, neck arches high enough to go over large pots. A feather-light touch won't set the faucet off, the touch needs to be more significant: we don't accidentally turn it on/off. Sometimes when the drinking water filter is on, faucet turns on/off. August 24, 2013
Great Function & Design The Pilar single handle pulldown with Touch20 technology is one of the best faucets in the market today. Not only have the great functionality of a pulldown but it has the added benefit of the touch technology. Any time your hands are too messy to touch the handle, all it takes is a small tap to start and stop the water. Perfection!! The sleek and simple design works with many different kitchen styles but will always look in style, no matter what the trend. All in all, it is an amazing faucet!! November 29, 2012
A Must in any Kitchen This faucet is a must for anyone who loves to cook. Just being able to touch the faucet and it turns on is amazing technology. It's great to have my hands free while I am preparing my food. June 14, 2012
Been using mine for almost 5 years-almost perfect Installed mine about 4.5 years ago. Had to change some fittings under the sink (not a Delta issue). Worked well for nearly 2 years. Then the magnet area holding the pull-out head started to not fit right. Found out later that the metal washer in the spray head was rusting so badly that it no longer fit or held onto the magnet in the arch. Could still use it though, so kept on. At about 2.5 years it stopped working on/off when touched. Took the solenoid apart and found some calcium and rust particles were impeding the plunger's movement. Cleaned it out (also cleaned the filter basket where I found more particles) and it worked okay again. Finally here at about 4.5 years the solenoid stopped working completely. Did the things I did before *and* all the Troubleshooting steps in the installation manual. It worked for a day and then stopped again. I set it up for fully Manual Operation but that stopped working after a couple of days. My guess was full solenoid failure. Called the Help Line and got some dubious instructions - but they worked - again only for a day. During the call I mentioned the problem with the magnet not holding the the spray head and he right away said he was sending a replacement head. (Guess they had seen this failure before.) Emailed back to Delta with the case number I had been given with the 'dubious instructions' and a detailed description of what I had done and how it was not working. Also a copy of my sales invoice. Within a day I got a reply saying they were sending (at no charge) a new model of control electronics and solenoid. Have installed it and it's working like a champ. The new *and improved* model adds several new features but the one I like best is the "no more water hammer effect" of stopping the water flow. It now takes about a second for the water to go from ON to OFF (and OFF-ON). Other improvements of note: ability for use of 'C' cell batteries in the power pack and the LED at the base of the faucet changes color to indicate the water temperature. So.... overall greatly impressed with the professionalism and care exhibited by Delta Customer Service and the quality and adaptability of their Touch2-O product! The one thing I can gripe about is minor, but I'll go ahead: the "pull-out" function of the spray head. In the normal installation the short tube from the control valve points straight down about 6 inches. When you attach the adapters and solenoid assembly, it extends even further down. Then you attach the "spray hose" to the solenoid assembly. Now you have shortened the amount of hose that you can pull out of the faucet by about 10-12 inches. There should be a way to curve the initial tube 90 or more degrees to the side to allow full use of the spray hose. Thanks for the opportunity to comment. April 14, 2015
Great product so far I just installed this faucet with our new granite counters. So far, this has been a great product. It works exactly as advertised without any problems. I read numerous reviews on this faucet because of its touch technology before I purchased it. So far I have not encountered any of the problems that some have run into. Pros: Great looking faucet with a nice stainless finish. It does not show fingerprints or smudges like a chrome faucet. Good style with a nice long reach and high spout. This allows easy washing of food and dishes. Make sure that you take the depth and height into consideration and match them to your sink. The Touch Technology works great. You can leave the faucet set on a warm setting and just touch it with your arm and you can wash your hands, rinse off food, or do dishes. We have not had any problems with it yet. Cons: Not really a negative, but the installation is more complicated than a standard faucet. While there is a diagram of the whole unit assembled, it really takes some time and concentration to make sure that you get it right. Go slow and follow every step exactly. I suspect that people that have had problems with the touch technology missed some of the steps required to insulate the fauceet from the counter and sink. August 4, 2010
This product is very well engineered I installed this faucet (with my wife's assistance) about 6 months ago. It has performed flawlessly ever since. The care in design and workmanship of this product has been apparent from the time I opened the well packed box, to the extremely well documented assembly instruction and ease of assembly. We love the stainless steel finish which looks as good today as it did when we installed it and the touch operation is a dream. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a clean looking design for their kitchen and great performance June 12, 2012
Delta thought of everything. We needed to replace our sink and counter-top, so we removed a perfectly good Delta faucet that we liked in favor of the touch faucet. In addition to being able to just tap the faucet to turn it on and off, you can move the faucet from one side of the sink to the other without triggering it again by just lingering your hand on the faucet an extra second. Delta engineers have obviously given this a lot of thought. Another feature that sold us on the product is the magnetic sprayer head; it is so much better than any of the competition. This product has changed my life. I want to rave about this product!! We love it! I sell plumbing supplies and I hate to have call backs or product issues. I can honestly say that I have never had a complaint about the functionality or installation. Customers tell me that they love the ease of use and installers tell me it was much easier than they had first though. I have one in my own home as well and I can't believe how much of a difference it makes in my everyday life, and the lives of my customers. June 18, 2012

Answer:
Hi Bill, Thank you for your question. The battery pack for the model 980T-AR-DST when installed is located on the base of the cabinet underneath the sink. It should be easily accessible to change out the batteries. Ordinary batteries will last up to two years with standard use.
Thanks,

I don't know because we have had it a year and still haven't replaced the batteries. However, our battery set up is right on our cabinet wall, so I could just reach in and replace them I think.

Answer:
There is a magnet on the sprayer end but not one on the pillar. The connection is weak and does not hold. There is not a matching magnet in the main stem. The design does not hold or the magnet is missing in the stem.

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 980T-DST has an LED indicator to tell you what is going on with the batteries.
Warning Mode-Replace batteries soon. Rather than the blue led, the red led will be illuminated when the water is on. When the water is off, the red led will flash once every 5 seconds.

Alert Mode-Battery Failure Imminent. The red led will flash once a second. the first time the faucet is used, the red led will turn on, the solenoid will be opened, and the manual valve must be used until the batteries are replaced.

Lackdown Mode-Replace Batteries. The red led is on and water will not flow until the batteries are replaced.
