Pilar Single Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet with Touch2O® Technology and Soap Dispenser 3.8 5 40 40
Great product both in looks and functionality This is a great faucet, and completes the look to my kitchen. It's the 2nd Delta pull-down faucet we've had and I love the functionality. The touch design is great, and I love it when my hands are a mess as I don't have to touch the lever. The only thing I think Delta could do to help this design would be to turn the spray option off when the water is shut off. Sometimes I have something very close to the spout when I turn the water on, and when its left in the spray mode it sprays all over. July 8, 2014
Best kitchen faucet ever! I hated my old kitchen faucet - leaky and not high enough to get big pots under it when cleaning. This high neck, touch design is absolutely a home chef's dream. I am very pleased with the look of the Venetian Bronze - very modern and elegant. Way to go Delta! March 12, 2013
Worst fears have come true We installed this faucet in Dec. 2009. Other than needing to change the battery after 2 years have not had any problem, but now the solenoid stopped working. We've done everything the owners manual says to do and still no working faucet. Can't even get it to convert to manual mode. Now I don't have water in my kitchen. Local stores, including big name home improvement stores, DO NOT carry parts. When the solenoid stops working, it doesn't even respond to the manual override steps. We had a good 2.5 years but for the price we paid, we expected longer duration for the solenoid. If Delta can't satisfactorilly help us fix this, it's back to old fashioned manual faucets again. I guess it was too good to be true. Great when it works, but a disaster when it doesn't. July 15, 2012
Great faucet & great support! We did a whole house remodel in 2009 and one of my "presents" to myself was this faucet #saw the first commercial for it as we were discussing the kitchen and immediately wanted it#. It has been a godsend when needing to turn on the water with either extremely filthy hands or hands that were full. We've had a couple of issues with the solenoid#s# going bad #we just ordered our 2nd in 3 years# but Delta has been extremely helpful everytime I've called - from detailed instructions to quick service. We have changed the batteries twice #with the 1st solenoid replacement a new battery pack was sent replacing C cell with D cell batteries# and I would definately purchase another Delta Touch2O faucet in the future! December 3, 2012
Okay, but wish it sprayed down straight and not outward My husband loves the touchless feature, but it doesn't work well when wearing kitchen gloves. The black at the bottom edge luckily matches my black granite. The soap dispenser stopped working and Delta sent a replacement insert that wasn't this exact product, so it was useless. The faucet sprays outward instead of down. If I'm rinsing, myself and the counter get soaked if the sprayer is completely up. To get around this, I leave the sprayer hanging 6 inches lower so it sprays straight down. This makes it look like the faucet pull-down sprayer is broken. I'm looking into replacing this faucet. Touch2O® Technology seems to have issues I just installed this product yesterday (9/24/2013). It does work but not exactly as advertised e.g. "..Turns on and off with just a touch anywhere on the spout or handle". Turning the faucet off or on is inconsistent at best. The spout does not seem to be sensitive enough to the touch to operate reliably however, the handle is somewhat better. I thought it might be low batteries but I get a blue light which I believe indicates the power level is adequate. I also practiced the "tap" rather than the "grasp" touch but again inconsistent. Some parts of the spout do not activate the solenoid at all. Is there a way to increase the sensitivity? I would appreciate any assistance you could provide. September 25, 2013
Excellent product I purchased this product not only for its convenience but for the fact that I can turn on and off the flow of water using only the back of my hand or forearm. This was very important to my wife and I as we were always worried about cross-contamination when cleaning a turkey or chicken at the sink and using our hands to turn on and off the water, This product has eliminated that problem by letting us use the back of our hand or forearm .I have been using this faucet since early 2010 and have never had a problem with it, never even having to change the batteries yet. A great innovation! June 13, 2012
Solenoid does not work after 3 years, shoddy performance throughout A pretty product in good color (Arctic Stainless), but... After 3 years, I have a faucet that does not output water consistently. Groans and sputters terribly. Have replaced the valve cartridge. Have attempted manual-only setup. Next up is the consideration of the solenoid replacement, the cost of which makes me consider a new faucet from a different brand, to be honest. During its lifetime of 3 years, the touch mechanics have been frustrating, seeming to turn on/off on its own. Manually turning on the faucet typically requires a second touch to restart. Been that way since original installation. I would love to know if there are troubleshooting tips before replacing the solenoid or buying a different faucet. February 11, 2014

Hi cbh, Thank you for your question. We do not offer a non touch version of the 980T-SSSD-DST faucet. The 955-SS-DST, and 978-SS-DST are similar faucets that do not have Touch2O Technology.

Answer:
Hi Koala, Thank you for your question. There is a version of the 980T-SSSD-DST that is available without the soap dispenser. The 980T-SS-DST is not available through Delta, but is still available from several online retailers. We have changed the finish on the model from the (SS) brilliance stainless to our (AR) arctic stainless finish as the model 980T-AR-DST.
Thanks,
Dave

Design Improvements

There are some reviews stating failures after a few years, and numerous old reviews saying that the Touch feature needs improvement or doesn't work correctly. Have the solenoids and/or touch design been improved recently or has the product design remained the same since some of the older reviews back in 2009?

Hi Leslie,

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 980T-SSSD-DST is available in Chrome, Stainless Steel, and Venetian Bronze at this time. We also have it available without the soap dispenser in Champagne Bronze and Artic Stainless.

The Stainless Steel finish will be the closest to a brushed nickel finish.

Thanks.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 980T-SSSD-DST will flash a red light when the batteries are getting low. If the red light becomes solid, it means the batteries are dead, and the faucet will not function in the touch mode.

If you go to the website and search for your model, you will be able to download instructions.

Answer:
Hi Kevin,

To change the batteries on this and any other touch faucet, unplug the wire on the battery box that has what looks like a 9 volt battery connection and replace the batteries. Be sure to leave the battery box unplugged for a full minute and plug back in.

Can the Touch technology be bypassed to a manual mode? this is for times where the batteries have died, but we still need to run the faucet as a standard setup until new batteries are available.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 980T-SSSD-DST can be switched to a manual mode as long as you do it while the faucet is running. While the water is running, remove the batteries and it will be switched.

However, if the batteries completely die before you can switch it over, the faucet will not work until the batteries are replaced.

Is the spout supposed to rotate 360 degrees?

I believe I followed the installation instructions completely and the spout rotates 360 degrees. I thought it would only rotate 180 degrees like other faucets I've installed in kitchens.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 980T-SSSD-DST uses a red light to indicate low battery. The red light will illuminate when your water is on, and will flash once every 5 seconds when the water is off. If the batteries are not replaced, you will not be able to use the faucet if they go out when the faucet is off. If the faucet is running and the batteries go out, you will only be able to use the faucet in a manual mode until the batteries are replaced.
