Answer:
Hi Dave, Thank you for your question. The RP12307 tub spout adapter that comes in the RP17453 tub spout is a brass fitting. Although similar we cannot verify that the pictured plastic adapter is the same size.
Thanks,
Dave

Replacement diverter for 4" threaded pipe

What Delta replacement tub diverter spout do I need to fit onto a 1/2 (inside diameter) copper pipe that protrudes exactly 4" from the wall? At the end of the pipe is a soldered threaded fitting on which the diverter screws directly. The combined distance from the wall of the pipe and the fitting is 4" exactly. The outside diameter of the threaded fitting looks to be about 3/4 inch. The original diverter that must be replaced is chrome metal (not plastic) and has a pull up knob on it. I don't want to cut the pipe or resolder a threaded fitting to a shorter length. thanks in advance.

Hi ASM, Thank you for your question. Our RP61357 is a metal diverter tub spout that will thread onto a pipe that is 3-7/8"-4" long. The pipe will thread into the nose of the spout.

I have a 3-3/4" threaded iron nipple. Will I be able to install this RP17453 without cutting the pipe? If not what other Delta spout can I use instead? Thanks.

Answer:
Hi Art, Thank you for your question. The adapter used on the RP17453 tub spout requires that the pipe nipple extend beyond the finished wall between 5/8" to 1-5/8". Our tub spouts like the model RP63157 that the nipple threads into the nose of the spout require 3-7/8" to 4" of pipe from the finished wall.
Thanks,
Dave

My delta pull down diverter is leaking. Can I simply replace it with a new RP17453 and keep the old adapter in place or do I need to install a new adapter as well?

The existing copper pipe is 1/2 ", a length from the wall to the end of the pipe is 2 5/8". 1) will I have to cut the pipe to a set length? 2) I have never sweated copper pipe, is this my only option to install this tub spout?

Answer:
Hi D&D,

Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet models RP17453 and RP17454 attach to the walls in the same way. They can either be sweat onto a 1/2" copper pipe or threaded onto a 1/2" iron pipe. They both include the RP12307 adapter assembly.

The only difference between the two models is the RP17453 is non-metallic and RP17454 is metal.

Thanks.

What diverter stub out options are available?

I want to buy a Pull Down Diverter, but I have not been able to find if a 3/4" stub out will fit., or what model will fit.
I am fairly adept at plumbing but would like to forgo sizing down to a smaller fitting within the wall cavity.
Does Delta offer the Pull Down Diverter tub spout with a 3/4" NPT adapter within the unit?

Answer:
Hi Craig, Thank you for your question. None of our pull down tub spout diverters will fit a 3/4" stub out. We offer the U1075-PK and U1011-PK which are pull up style of diverters that will thread onto a 3/4" IPS nipple.
Thanks,
Dave

The water is not diverting to the shower. I think I have to replace the entire unit. Is there somewhere local to me, within 50 miles of 27248 zip code, where I can find the tub spout? Also does this tub spout come in Brushed Nickel?

Answer:
Hi Hamp, Thank you for your question. You should be able to order the RP17453SS from your local Lowes or Home Depot. The RP17453 is not available in the bushed nickel finish. Our (SS) brilliance stainless finish is comparable to other brands brushed nickel.
Thanks,
Dave

How long of a 1/2" pipe stub is needed for the adapter?

The distance from the wall to the end of the 1/2" copper pipe on my bathtub is 1 1/4". Is this long enough to use with the brass adapter that comes with this Delta tub spout? If not, what is the recommended way to install the spout? I looked on-line for detailed installation instructions, but could not find any.

Answer:
Hi AW, Thank you for your question. You will need at a minimum 1-1/2" and preferably 1-3/4" of copper to solder on the adapter. The only other option is if you can solder on a 1/2" copper male adapter keeping your overall length to 1-1/4" at the maximum, 1/2" at the minimum and then threading the tub spout adapter on.
