Hi Rich, Thank you for your question!
Your tub/shower unit is a 1500 series. The 1500 series valve cartridge is discontinued and has been replaced with the 1700 series RP32104 valve cartridge. You may also need a new bonnet nut RP22734.

Hi Mark, Thank you for your question!
If you have an older 1700 series tub/shower you will be able to upgrade the trim to one of the T17 series trim. However, you will not be able to use the new 17 series multi choice cartridge. You will need to use your old RP32104 valve cartridge.

We were hoping to replace a 22 year old Moen (Monticello) shower valve and trim with this new Delta valve/cartridge and Bronze trim.

Will it be possible to use the Delta T17278 set that we have purchased in this application without removing the marble wall? Can I extract the Moen cartridge and put the Delta in? Should the rough-in valve be replaced too?

Thanks,

Dan

Answer:
Hi Dan,

Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, our products will not work with the existing rough-in valve. If you have access from the other side of the wall, replacing the valve with an R10000 rough-in will allow you to install the T17278.

Is RP32104 correct cartridge is updating old 1700 series monitor

I currently have a older (approx 2001) 1700 series monitor shower trim and valve. I am looking to change the trim. Will the existing cartridge work with current 14 or 15 series trim or do I need to change cartridge to the RP32104 or some other cartridge.

Answer:
Hi Brad,

Thank you for your question! You can updated the trim on a 1700 series shower with any of our Monitor T17 series (not T17T) trim kits. However, you will need to use the original cartridge, or the RP32104, rather than the cartridge that comes with the kit.

Which cartridge

I have a dual finish shower fixture in a home I recently purchased. The home was build in 1999. It has a separate control for the water and the temperature. I believe it is the Monitor 17 series based on the Delta Faucet website. I need a replacement cartridge and I am getting two different part numbers. One is RP46463 and the other is RP32104. Which one is the correct one for my shower?

Answer:
Hi Dale, Thank you for your question. If the faucet was installed in 1999 the RP32104 cartridge will be the correct cartridge. The easiest way to tell the difference between the 2 cartridges is the color of the top of the cartridge. The top of the RP32104 will be white and the RP46463 will be gray.

Dave

Answer:
Hi Greg, Thank you for your question. If the screw holes in the round escutcheon of your current 1500 series faucet are diagonally across from one another at 1 and 7 o-clock you can upgrade to a new 17 series faucet. You will need to order the Monitor 17 series trim of your choice, a RP32104 cartridge, and a RP22734 bonnet nut to installl with your existing rough in valve. If the screw holes on the escutcheon are in a horizontal line at 5 and 7 o-clock no conversion kit is available.

Dave

Answer:
Hi Munguirick, Thank you for your question. The model T17T455-SS thermostatic tub and shower trim will not work with your existing 1700 series rough in valve. You can use the T17455-SS pressure balanced trim. The new trim will ship with a new cartridge. This cartridge will not fit your existing rough. You would have to continue to use the existing cartridge or replace it with a new RP32104.
Thanks,
Dave
