Will the valve change?

We are switching from a RP19804 cartridge shower handle, 1000 series, to one that uses this cartridge. Do we need to change out the valves as well? The product we will be switching over to is T13220-PBSHC.

Thank you!

Answer:
Hello Valarie,

Thanks for your question.

While you can switch to any T13 or T14 trim kit without replacing the rough in valve, you must continue using the RP19804 cartridge with that trim. The T13/T14 series units will interchange with the RP19804 cartridge without a problem. You would have to replace the rough in valve with a new R10000-UN in order to use the RP46074 cartridge.

I hope this helps!

Hi Jane,

Thank you for your question. The seats and springs (RP4993) can be replaced by twisting the top half of the cartridge and removing in from the bottom half. This would be what to replace if the shower is dripping while off.

Hello Carl!

Thank you for your question! I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble taking the cartridge out and I will be happy to help. If the bonnet ring has been removed, the cartridge should just pull straight out of the valve. If it feels like it won't budge, we recommend you soak a towel in a 50/50 solution of white vinegar and water and let it soak around the cartridge overnight. I am including a link to a How-To-Video to show the proper way to dismantle the parts.

How long has Delta been using the 13 series? Mine has developed a problem with temperature settings.

The temperature will sometimes go from very hot to fully cold with a very small adjustment of the control. Not sure if this the 1300 or not. Have attached a picture. It looks very similar. This is the original shower faucet and been in this shower since 1996. Thanks Mrmo

Answer:
Hi Mrmo, Thank you for your question. The 1300 series faucets were produced from 1993-2/2006, the 13 series from 2/2006-present. The pictured faucet is a 1600 series. The replacement stem assembly used in this model is the RP1991 along with the RP4993 seats and springs to control the water flow and mix. Replacing these parts should solve the issue that you are experiencing.
Thanks,
Dave

Trim compatibility

Will the trim only (the escutcheon, single lever, trim sleeve, etc) from the B112900 Foundations 1-Handle Shower faucet fit on a RP46074 cartridge installed in a R10000-UNBX valve? The B112900 trim looks extremely similar to the Monitor 13 T13220 kit (P19809 escutcheon and H79 handle kit), which is compatible with the RP46074 cartridge. Thanks.

Hi Sd, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the B112900 and B114900 Foundation faucets are the only tub/shower trims we offer that will not fit the R10000-UNBX rough. Any current T13/T14 series trims will fit the RP46074 cartridge and rough.

I installed a new shower faucet RP46074 but the water pressure is minimal, and very low coming out of the shower head.

When I remove the cartridge and turn on the main valve, there is plenty of pressure, but with the cartridge installed, pressure is substantially reduced. I bought a spare cartridge and installed it with the same results. How can I increase the output flow?
Are there any mods or alternate cartridges that will yield more flow?

Answer:
Hi Kim, Thank you for your question. At 60psi your RP46074 cartridge should provide approximately 6 gallons of water per minute. The showerhead itself is what limits the water flow. You will want to remove the showerhead and make sure there is no debris restricting the flow in the head. Also check the flow without the showerhead in place to help flush the line. Our showerheads have flowrates of 1.5 to 2.5 gallons per minute depending on the trim.
Thanks,
Dave
