Delta Cartridge Assembly - MultiChoice® 13/14 Series

How long has Delta been using the 13 series? Mine has developed a problem with temperature settings.

The temperature will sometimes go from very hot to fully cold with a very small adjustment of the control. Not sure if this the 1300 or not. Have attached a picture. It looks very similar. This is the original shower faucet and been in this shower since 1996. Thanks Mrmo

Answer:
Hi Mrmo, Thank you for your question. The 1300 series faucets were produced from 1993-2/2006, the 13 series from 2/2006-present. The pictured faucet is a 1600 series. The replacement stem assembly used in this model is the RP1991 along with the RP4993 seats and springs to control the water flow and mix. Replacing these parts should solve the issue that you are experiencing.
Thanks,
Dave

Trim compatibility

Will the trim only (the escutcheon, single lever, trim sleeve, etc) from the B112900 Foundations 1-Handle Shower faucet fit on a RP46074 cartridge installed in a R10000-UNBX valve? The B112900 trim looks extremely similar to the Monitor 13 T13220 kit (P19809 escutcheon and H79 handle kit), which is compatible with the RP46074 cartridge. Thanks.

Hi Sd, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the B112900 and B114900 Foundation faucets are the only tub/shower trims we offer that will not fit the R10000-UNBX rough. Any current T13/T14 series trims will fit the RP46074 cartridge and rough.

Dave

Which models use this cartridge?

Hi, which shower or rough-in's use this cartridge? I already saw that the RP19804 is used for models before 2006 (as stated in the Q & A for this part)

Hi Wilrose3, Thank you for your question. The RP46074 cartridge is used in the 13/14 series faucets produced since February 2006. The RP19804 was used in the 1300/1400 series faucets made before February 2006.

I installed a new shower faucet RP46074 but the water pressure is minimal, and very low coming out of the shower head.

When I remove the cartridge and turn on the main valve, there is plenty of pressure, but with the cartridge installed, pressure is substantially reduced. I bought a spare cartridge and installed it with the same results. How can I increase the output flow?
Are there any mods or alternate cartridges that will yield more flow?

Answer:
Hi Kim, Thank you for your question. At 60psi your RP46074 cartridge should provide approximately 6 gallons of water per minute. The showerhead itself is what limits the water flow. You will want to remove the showerhead and make sure there is no debris restricting the flow in the head. Also check the flow without the showerhead in place to help flush the line. Our showerheads have flowrates of 1.5 to 2.5 gallons per minute depending on the trim.

Dave

the single valve in the center of the wall. do i use a solid brass wall mount, or do you have valves that can control each handle's water volume? Would a transfer valve work?

I sent an email earlier but I think I wrote my email address wrong....

How do I choose between this cartridge and the ceramic cartridge?

There appears to be two available cartridges. This one and one listed as ceramic. How do I choose the proper one? If both will work, which is better?

Answer:
Hi Tony, Thank you for your question. The RP46074 is the single function pressure balanced cartridge that ships with our T13/T14 series trims. The RP74236 is the ceramic version of the RP46074 that is available as a replacement part. The RP74236 is most commonly used in areas where very hard water conditions exist.

Answer:
Hi George, Thank you for your question. If you installed the R10000 universal rough in you can switch out your 13/14 series trim and cartridge. Our 17 series trims that use the RP46463 cartridge allow you to control the temperature and volume of the water. You can also upgrade to the 17 series faucets that feature our thermostatic cartridge as well.
Thanks,
Dave

Answer:
Hi Thad, Thank you for your question. All parts and finishes of the Delta faucet are warranted to the original consumer purchaser to be free from defects in material and workmanship for as long as the original consumer purchaser owns their home. Delta recommends using a professional plumber for all installation and repair.

Delta will replace, FREE OF CHARGE, during the warranty period, any part or finish that proves defective in material and/or workmanship under normal installation, use and service.

Thanks,
Dave
