Model 470 faucet and RP50587?

According to your online parts list the RP50587 cartridge should be the replacement part for my Model 470 delta faucet, but after taking it apart, I don't think so. Is there an early version of the 470 that uses RP70 part instead? That's what I think I have; the faucet was purchased around 2005.

The RP70 part has already been replaced a couple of times over the last few years, but it still leaks; time for a new faucet?

Answer:
Hi G,

With your faucet being purchased in 2005, you are correct in that his faucet will not take the RP50587 cartridge. You will want to replace the RP3614 repair kit as well as the RP70 ball assembly.

Also, please flush the lines before installing the new parts. To do this, once you have removed all the parts from under the handle with the water turned off, please will place a bucket upside down over the faucet, get a good hold on that bucket and turn the water back on. Let the water run for 30-45 seconds, turn the water back off and install the new parts.

If you have any questions or would like further instruction, please contact our warranty line (1-800-345-3358).

Our bathroom faucet 751-SS handle broke off completely

I have looked into the specs of this faucet and it looks like the long pin that is part of the valve cartridge broke at the base. My box says this faucet has a lifetime warranty. How do I get this resolved?

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP50587 is a cartridge that is used in many of our faucets. It will depend on which faucet it is used in as to how to replace it but usually the water is turned off and the handle is then removed. There is a bonnet nut underneath that is removed and then the cartridge is taken out. The new cartridge can then be put in making sure that you match the notches in the body of the faucet. Each part is then replaced in the same order it was taken out.

You may also contact our Home Owner/Warranty line at 800-345-3358 and they will walk you through the instructions while you are on the phone.

My 980T-SS-DST has very, very limited temperature adjustment. The replacement valve is the same way. Any ideas?

The valve has never shown any functional problems, water flow is as expected with full range of motion for the action of the lever. The problem is an immeasurably small degree of temp adjustment at the center of the lever's range of motion. Move beyond the exact center and you have all hot or all cold, obviously depending on the side you move to. This is very frustrating. I spoke to customer service about this and another unrelated problem involving the touch control and they sent me a replacement valve, but the problem is the same; for practical purposes there is no temp adjustment it's all hot or all cold.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. I apologize that you are having trouble adjusting your temperature. We recommend turning the volume on at full power and then getting the temperature you would like. Once that is done, leave the faucet on and it will always go to that temperature.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # 955-SS-DST does have a ceramic disc cartridge. There are also non-metallic parts to the cartridge, and this is a normal industry standard for ceramic disc cartridges.

What does the little orange switch do?

My single handle kitchen faucet has become hard to turn off. It will keep dripping and we have to turn it off a couple of times to get it to quit dripping.
I noticed the little orange, two position switch on the valve assembly, flipped it to the other side from where it was and the faucet seems to turn off better now.
Wondering what that switch does.

Answer:
Thank you for your question. I apologize for the issue that you are experiencing. The little orange switch does not affect how your faucet turns on and off. This switch regulates the temperature of your water and can be moved to turn down the temperture of the water. You may need a new cartridge. To ensure the proper part is identified for repair, please contact our toll-free Home Owner/Warranty department at 800-345-3358.
