Answer:
Hi Tim, Thank you for your question. It sounds like there may be some type of debris or bulid up in the valve body that is keeping the diverter from sealing properly. Remove the push button diverter and check the condition of the valve body behind it, remove any debris or mineral build up you may find.
Thanks,
Dave

Is there a plug available.

I have a diverter on the tub spout and want to replace this RP5649 diverter with a plug. Do you make a plug this size and thread? I went to Lowe's but they didn't have one.

Answer:
Hi Marty, Thank you for your question. The plug for the diverter would be the RP2865. Your local retailer or wholesaler that sells Delta should be able to order this for you.
Thanks,
Dave

our townhome has a danco installed, and is worn out. however, the new RP5649 I purchased will not thread in straight. I think someone has 'boogered' the threads, and would like to know what size tap I need to clean up the pipe in order to accept the RP5649. Thanks!

Answer:
Hi Sawfish,

I apologize about the issue you are having with your Delta push button diverter. The thread size for the RP5654 is 13/16-20. I hope this information is helpful.

Answer:
thanks for the timely reply, DeltaJess.! However, in your reply, you stated a different model number. Will the 13/16-20 be the same for my RP5649?

Answer:
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model # RP5649 is a push button diverter for any of our tub and shower faucets that have the diverter on the escutcheon plate instead of in the tub spout.
