Hi Pop, Thank you for your question. You can use a 9 volt battery in a pinch but we recommend using the 6 AA batteries. The AA's will give you a longer lasting battery life.

Thank you for your question. You can use a 9 volt battery as a temporary replacement but we do not recommend it as a long term replacement as it will run out quickly.

Answer: 
Hi Laura,

The faucet can be put in manual mode. To do this, connect the pullout hose directly to the valve outlet nipple.

Following are the steps to do so:
Remove the hose clip and hose;
Remove the metal solenoid clip and the solenoid;
Reconnect the hose with the hose clip to the spout outlet nipple;
The faucet now should be able to be used as a manual pullout faucet.
