Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works and Looks Great. Was attracted to the open water flow tub spout. Wish you could buy the spout as a single item for older tubs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Dawson tub and shower set has the kind of old time water pump look that caught my wife's attention. The Delta Dawson tub and shower set finished off our bathroom remodel nicely. I did the work myself. The instructions were easy to understand and installation went without a problem. My wife picked it out and loves it. We got the brushed nickel finish which is easy to keep looking new. Ron B Wichita

What material is the spout made of? Does the stainless finish match all the other delta stainless products?

Asked by: alignmatt
Hi, alignmatt! Thank you for your question. The Delta RP78454SS is made of plastic material. The Brilliance Stainless Steel finish will match other Brilliance Stainless Steel faucets in our Delta line. Best Regards, Rosanna

Is it possible that Delta Dawson comes in a shower only version (no tub)?

Thank you for your question, Frank. This model is not available in a shower-only version. However, you can install it in a shower-only installation by capping the bottom port of the valve. Best regards, Jon

The adaptor that came with our tub spout does not have a set screw. Where can we purchase the correct adaptor?

Asked by: Sara
The RP78454 is meant to be attached as a thread on or sweat/solder onto a 1/2" copper pipe. If you have 1/2" copper pipe and do not want to sweat on the adapter we offer the RP33794 slip on tub spout adapter that attaches with a set screw. This can be purchased directly through us by calling the warranty center at 1-800-345-3358. We are open Monday through Friday 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM central time, and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM on Saturday. I will include a link below to this part. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP33794 Best regards, Edward

Is there a cartridge that will convert a 1500 series valve to 1400 series

Asked by: Daniel
Dear Daniel, Thank you for your question. There is no way to convert a 1500 series (dual handle) to a single function 1400 series faucet without changing the in wall rough-in valve. However, as long as the screw holes on your large round escutcheon plate are at the 1 and 7 o'clock positions and you do not have a push button shower diverter directly below the off and on handle, then any of the Delta tub and shower trim kits that start with a T17, except for the T17T series trim kits will interchange for you. The cartridges that come with the new trim kits will not fit your valve body, so you will need to reuse your existing cartridge (RP32104). Best regards, Tanya

Using the threaded insert, how far should the threaded pipe be from the finished wall?

Asked by: SweetLew
Dear SweetLew, Thank you for your question. To install the RP78454 diverter tub spout, that comes with the Delta Dawson 144720 model, you will need 2" to 4" of copper pipe from the finished wall. When brazing on the adapter, remove external O-ring first and cool brass down prior to re-installing O-ring. If desired, tubing may be cut off just beyond or flush with end of adapter. The threaded end of the adapter should be facing the finished wall at a distance of 1/4" to 1/2". Please refer to page 7 module 3 b-3 "Copper Sweat installation", in the Installation link below. https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/72264%20Rev%20F.pdf Best regards, Tanya

Does the spout need to be caulked to the wall

Does the spout need to be caulked to the wall to prevent water from sliding down wall and faucet and traveling to the inside of the wall? Or is there an "O" ring seal it makes with the wall when attached?
Asked by: gs
Dear GS, Thank you for your question. The RP78454 tub spout that comes in the model 147720 faucet, attaches with the RP12307 tub spout adapter that threads onto 1/2" IPS, or sweats/solders onto 1/2" copper pipe. We advise threading tub spout onto brass adapter, hand tighten until spout is firmly against finished wall and all slack is taken up behind wall. Best regards, Tanya

can the faucet on the 144720-ss be installed with the slip on method?

there is no set screw on the faucet. if possible to use the slip on installation, how long does the 1/2 inch copper need to be from the finished wall?
Asked by: booey
Hi booey, Thank you for your question! The tub spout uses the RP12307 threaded or sweat on adapter, however you can convert it to a slip-on installation by purchasing the RP33794 adapter. The copper piping should be 2-4" from the finished wall for a slip-on installation. http://www.deltafaucet.com/repairparts/details/rp33794.html?showPhotoGallery=false Thanks, Jon
