Rated 4 out of 5 by from This new product has a very dense foam back which should reduce the chance of crack and leak. The dimension says 34 by 48 but the depth is actually only 33 inches so we had to install a decorative bar to conceal the gap between the shower base and the ceramic floor. Also, the acrylic surface is quite thin and easily scratched. The installer accidentally dropped his tool and it chipped a small piece on the base already. I hope the dimension is more accurate and the surface is more durable. Thanks.

Hi, I just bought this model shower base, and I'm working through the install. My subfloor is not level, so I believe that I will have to set it in a mortar base. Do you have a recommended type of mortar that I should set this in? Thanks, mat

Hello Mathew, Thank you for your question regarding Delta Classic 400 - 48" X 34" Shower Base and I am happy to help you today. Does the base come with a drain piece? If not, what drain should be purchased?

Asked by: Jim M
Hello Jim M, Thank you for your question regarding the Delta Classic 400 - 48" X 34" Shower Base and I am happy to help you today. A drain assembly is not included with the purchase of this shower base. We recommend purchasing a standard shower drain. The drain will need to be placed 24" or 60.96 cm from the side wall and 16 1/8" or 42.23 cm from the back wall. I hope this helps and if there is anything further we can assist you with, please do not hesitate to give us a call on our warranty and technical support line at 800-355-2721. Thank you, Brandy

Is a left hand drain available?

Asked by: Neil
Hello Neil, Thank you for your question regarding the Delta Classic 400 - 48" X 34" Shower Base and I am happy to assist you today. Unfortunately at this time, we do not manufacture a shower base in the 48" x 34" dimension with a left hand drain and I apologize for the inconvenience this may cause. The only models that we currently carry with a left and right drain option at this time are in the 60" x 32" dimension through Lowe's and Home Depot stores. Please feel free to give us a call if we can assist you with anything going forward at 800-355-2721. Thank you, Brandy

Hardi Backer and TIle

How big of a gap is needed between the backer board and the base, as well as the tile and the base?
Asked by: KJ
Hello KJ, Thank you for your question on the Delta Classic 400 48" X 34" Shower Base. I would be happy to help you with this question. As shown in step seven in the installation guide for this shower pan, you can stop the backer board just above the flange for the shower base and bring the tile down to the base. After installing the walls, you will want to apply an adhesive to the edge where the base meets the tile to prevent leakage. I hope this was helpful! If you have any other questions about this product you can call 800-355-2721 for answers and assistance. Thank you, Caleb Delta Faucet Company

Why is it making a "sticky loosening" noise when I step off?

When I step in 2 separate areas of the shower base it sticks to the foam base, then when I remove my weight I can hear the base coming loose from foam, which is quiet annoying. What can I do to resolve this?
Asked by: Mike D
Hello Mike D, Thank you for your question on the Classic 400 48" X 34" Shower Base. I am so sorry for the inconveniences you have been faced with and I will be more than happy to help. Is there anyway you can email me a short video so I may hear the sound the base is making? Also, I would like to ask a few install questions: 1. Was this installed by you or a contractor? 2. What type of sub-floor was used? 3. Was the sub-floor level? 4. Was base level before install? 5. Was adhesive used on the bottom of the base? If you could please reply to my email with your name, address, and telephone number I will do my best to rectify the situation for you. Thanks, Sarah Consumer Care Delta Faucet Company

adhesive use

The underside of the pan has a foam backing. Is a foamboard specific adhesive needed to protect that material? i.e., Is Loctite's PL300 VOC Foamboard Adhesive needed, or is the Loctite Power Grab Express Tub Surround Construction Adhesive safe for the foam? Also, instructions say to use a V-notch trowel to the adhesive, but there's no mention of the notch size. Notches of 5/32, 3/16 or 1/4 inch are common, dictating the thickness of the resulting stripes of adhesive. What size should be used? Should I 'butter' the underside of the pan's foam with adhesive, too? I tried your help-line and didn't get an answer to this question.

Hello RedRedWine, Thank you for your question on the Classic 400 48" X 34" Shower Base. We are so sorry for the inconveniences and I will be more than happy to assist you. Any brand adhesive will work as long as it is intended for tub and wall surrounds and safe for plastics. You may use a 3/16 v-notched trowel to spread the adhesive.
