Rated 4 out of 5 by from General Answer and Questions The shower pan or the way "Delta" has designed this is interesting. You do not need a mortar bed unless you are really out of of level. I do however see online where people have issues and even I have questioned the drain installation over long term use. Not so much the rough stub out of the drain height because I am on a raised foundation but the actual drain assembly and sealant. First the foam backer board in lieu of mortar does get glued to the sub-floor. But what find very sketchy is using DAP 3.0 Sealant in lieu of plumbers putty. Now I applied the sealant liberally around the flange of the top drain assembly and the top inlet and let it sit for 24 hours and put a 4 hour water test and it did not leak. My biggest concern in how long does the sealant versus the putty last? Because sealant reminds me of painting a house. It holds up for a few years and then it leaks where as plumbers putty may shrink but it retains a tight seal for years. Has their been any issues with this? Also I want to touch on the shower wall kit as well. I think you if you installing the base it should have instructions on your wall studs. Because it is ridiculous that you install a pan following the instructions but then "Whoop's" The shower wall instructions want studs 12" on center and blocking at 50" height, then glued. It should be mentioned within the pan instructions as a precaution because it is a pain in the butt trying to get studs in place after pan installation!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Drain height 1.75” height of drain pipe above subfloor for B78513-4834 is not correct. It is much closer to 1/2”. Technical support online and on phone was of no help.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This new product has a very dense foam back which should reduce the chance of crack and leak. The dimension says 34 by 48 but the depth is actually only 33 inches so we had to install a decorative bar to conceal the gap between the shower base and the ceramic floor. Also, the acrylic surface is quite thin and easily scratched. The installer accidentally dropped his tool and it chipped a small piece on the base already. I hope the dimension is more accurate and the surface is more durable. Thanks.

The installation manual states, ".. apply adhesive on floor and spread using the notched side of the trowel,..", which appears inconsistent with the listing under the tools and materials that "2 tubes of adhesive" applied using a caulk gun. Please clarify

Asked by: Glue me knot
Hi, Glue me knot! Thank you for your question. We recommend using a caulk gun to apply the adhesive for a more even application at the seams of the base. We recommend using the notched side of the trowel when spreading adhesive on floor before base installation. Best Regards, Rosanna

adhesive use

The underside of the pan has a foam backing. Is a foamboard specific adhesive needed to protect that material? i.e., Is Loctite's PL300 VOC Foamboard Adhesive needed, or is the Loctite Power Grab Express Tub Surround Construction Adhesive safe for the foam? Also, instructions say to use a V-notch trowel to the adhesive, but there's no mention of the notch size. Notches of 5/32, 3/16 or 1/4 inch are common, dictating the thickness of the resulting stripes of adhesive. What size should be used? Should I 'butter' the underside of the pan's foam with adhesive, too? I tried your help-line and didn't get an answer to this question.

Hi, I just bought this model shower base, and I'm working through the install. My subfloor is not level, so I believe that I will have to set it in a mortar base. Do you have a recommended type of mortar that I should set this in? Thanks, mat
