There are many factors to consider when a shower enclosure is leaking, such as the type of sealant and adhesive that was used during installation, if the sealant was pressed completely into the joints of the surround, base and enclosure to get a tight seal and whether or not the unit is fully plumb and level.
One very common issue with a leaking enclosure is when 100% silicone based sealant is used to seal the surround, base and enclosure, as this sealant has a very high shrinkage factor over a short period of time.
We recommend using an advanced polymer sealant which is safe for use on polystyrene/acrylic materials and intended for kitchens, bathrooms and surrounds, such as the three brands below:
DAP® 3.0™ Kitchen, Bath & Plumbing High Performance Sealant
Red Devil® RD3000™ Advanced Kitchen & Bath Sealant
ECO-BOND® Kitchen-Bath-Plumbing Adhesive and Sealant
