I need greater detail on attaching the rough in body.
After initial installation I noticed that the rough in bodies were leaking. The instructions say to wrap the pipes with teflon tape and tighten. My questions are 1) How many turns of teflon tape do I use? and 2) How tight do I tighten the bodies/ i.e. how many lb/inches or ft/pounds? To just say "tighten" (but not over tighten as in the updated instructions) doesn't give me any useful information. Additionally, should I use any pipe sealant with the teflon tape? Thanks. Randy.
Hi Randy, Thank you for your question. There are several different thicknesses of the tape depending on what brand you purchase but normally 2 to 3 times around the pipe is sufficient. The connection is a regular pipe thread connection. The rough needs to be tightened on the pipe to a point where it does not leak. Due to the variables in the installation we cannot provide a specific torque measurement for the rough. You do not normally need to apply pipe sealant and pipe thread tape at the same time.
