Must we use the 51708 with other Delta tub/shower parts? Or can it be used together with other manufacturer's parts?
We really like the 51708 handheld and slide bar and want to use it as the 'only' shower in a tub/shower set-up. Can we use this product with another manufacturer's rough-in and tub/shower controls or must we also select Delta rough-in and controls?
Thank you for your question. This unit can be used with any shower valve. The hose has a standard universal 1/2" threaded connection.

Can the slide bar (Model#: 51708) be installed using toggle bolts (fiberglass shower enclosure) instead of using supplied screws and anchors into wall studs?
Thank you for your inquiry, Joe704! Yes, we recommend for fiberglass/acrylic surfaces install to use toggle bolts (not included, with the Delta Premium 7-Setting Slide Bar Hand Shower 51708 model. Please see page 2 module B in the Maintenance/Installation document.

Operate with handle on right?
When I move handle to right of bar, the wand holder is tilted toward wall and I can not seem to adjust it so that it is tilted toward the showerer. Is there an adjustment I can make or is there a part to buy that will allow handle on right operation?
Hi Drew, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the handshower holder is designed to only work with the handle to the left and still have the tilt motion pointing into the tub. The handshower only fits into the holder in one direction so rotating the bracket upside down will not work either.

How can the handshower holder be tilted to aim down a little more? It seems very tight and don't want to break it.
Thank you for your question, Rick! The mount will tilt further, but the hand shower may not sit properly in the mount beyond a 45 degree angle.

When installing the slide bar hand shower do I use the 51708 CZ or the 51708 PN?
Hi Ray, Thank you for your question. The 51708-CZ and the 51708-PN would be the same slide bar hand shower only in different finishes if they existed. The 51708 comes in chrome, (PB) polished brass, (RB) venetian bronze, and (SS) brilliance stainless. The (CZ) champagne bronze and (PN) polished nickel finish is not offered on this model.

Hello, I'm trying to order one of the cone mounting brackets. I lost one. Not having any luck using this site. Can someone help me out?
I purchased this unit from Home Depot for about $150 for the whole thing. And the answer above points me to a replacement option that costs $230? All I need is a chrome cone... which is part of the unit. Can you please sell me one of those?

I'm installing this along with the T17278.
Can you guide me to what I need as far as a diverter and/or valve body? I'd like to be able to use the shower head & handheld both independently, as well as both together.
Hi Tom, Thank you for your question. You will need your shower trim T17278, and shower rough, we recommend the R10000-UNBXHF for your set up. The diverter will require the diverter trim T11800 and diverter rough R11000. This will allow you to use each showerhead individually or at the same time. The last piece you need in addition to the 51708 slide bar hand shower is the 50560 wall elbow for the hand shower.

What additional components will I need to install as my only shower
I would like to install this handheld unit as my only shower head in a "standard tub/shower" configuration. I would like a single handle that would divert the water from the tub to the handheld shower. I am looking at the Leland line for my faucet.
Hi John, Thank you for your question. For your desired set up in the Leland collection you will want the following components. R10000-UNBXHF rough, T14178-LHP tub trim, H778 handle, R11000 diverter rough, T11800 diverter trim, 50560 wall elbow, and the 51708 slide bar hand shower. This set up has a non diverter tub spout so that the wall diverter will control flow to the tub spout or hand shower.

Is there a cross handle style valve trim model available to go with this?
Thank you for your question. Delta Faucet model 51708 does not have a cross handle style trim to go with it.

What is the distance between the back of the slide bar to where the finished wall will be when this is mounted. Wondering if there will be enough room behind the slide bar to straddle a pencil border that sticks out from the shower wall.
Thank you for your question. From the center of the bar to the wall is 2.34" for the 51708 Delta slide bar.

Is a vacuum breaker needed and if yes is it included?
Hi Darren, Thank you for your question!
The 51708 does not include a vacuum breaker but does include a check valve. You will need to check your city plumbing code regulations to see if a vacuum breaker is needed in your area. If you do need one we offer the U4900-PK.

Can you add a soap dish?
Thank you for your question. We do not have a soap dish that will fit the Delta 51708 slide bar.

Handle to the right
I see another question about using the handle on the right side. Apparently, this will not allow the proper tilt on the holder. Is there any way at all to get around this. My bar has already been installed, having in mind that the handle would be on the right. Is there even a part or anything else that I could buy to swap out? Please help!
Hi Glambarbie, Thank you for your question. Unfortunately the design of the slide bar shower mount on the model 51708 does not allow for the handle to be mounted on the right and the hand shower holder to the left. Due to the styling and diameter of the slide bar we do not offer an alternative mount that would function properly.

To what extent does this showerhead tilt when on the rail?
It seems to be a large complaint among the reviews that this showerhead does not tilt much, how many degrees can it tilt? I plan to use this mainly as a showerhead, not as a handheld. My husband and I want the slide bar because he is 6'7" and I am 5'7" and we want to be able to adjust the height of the shower head. Is there another slide bar that has more ability to tilt and be maneuvered while on the rail? Thanks!
Thank you for your question. The mount will tilt further, but the hand shower may not sit properly in the mount beyond a 45 degree angle.
