Thank you for your question regarding the Delta Porter Shower Head and I am happy to assist you today.
There is a flow restrictor built within this model, although we do not recommend attempting to remove the restriction device from the shower head as doing so will void the warranty for the shower head.
Flow restrictors for faucets are an integral part of most aerators and it is generally not possible or desirable to remove them. Our H2Okinetic showering devices are specifically designed to operate most efficiently at the flow rate controlled by the flow restrictor.
Removing the flow restrictor from an H2Okinetic showering device may result in improper operation and a very uncomfortable experience. Also, for water conservation purposes most plumbing codes require faucets and showering devices to not exceed a certain maximum flow rate. Removing the flow restrictors could cause these devices to no longer meet these codes.
This model has been designed to dispense a maximum of 1.75 GPM (gallons per minute) and if you are more familiar with using a model which dispenses more than 2.5 GPM, you may notice a slight decrease in the amount of water this shower head dispenses.
If you are noticing decreased water pressure or a poor quality flow rate you may have debris in your flow restrictor or the screen filter in your shower head or aerator.
If you would like to test your model to ensure you are receiving the full 1.75 gallons of water per each minute that it runs, you can fill a pitcher or bucket for one minute and measure the amount of water the unit dispenses. If you are receiving less than the 1.75 gallons per minute, you can soak the unit in a 50/50 white vinegar and water solution overnight, which should resolve this issue.
