Rated 5 out of 5 by from Delta Freestanding Tub Filler Rough-in Valve with Stops. If your interested in local building codes... As far as I know, this delta freestanding rough-in valve is the most cost effective way to meet plumbing codes where I'm from, which require you to have a shut off for all inaccessible valves. I use it in concrete floors and it works like a charm. Just make sure the copper is completely protected from the concrete. Their tub fillers are all thermostatic as well, so you don't have to worry when the inspector comes. As long as its level, and you have adequate setbacks from the wall and tub, installation should be a small feat for any professional. Heavy and beautiful, highly recommend. Hi, I am wondering what is the difference between the r4700-fl vs r4700-flws

Asked by: ejvv
Thank you for your question, ejvv! The model R4700-FLWS has supply shut offs, which allow you to turn the water off directly at the valve during installation of the trim or repair. It also has 1/2" NPT female inlets, whereas the R4700-FL has 1/2” sweat connections. Best regards, Jon

what is the tub filler flow rate

Asked by: Rick
Hi Rick, Thank you for your question! The tub filler should run at least 6 gallons per minute at 60 PSI. However, the exact flow rate will be determined by the trim kit that you use. Please refer to the Technical Specifications under the "Documents and Specs" tab on the product page for the trim kit you will be using. Best regards, Jon

I see from the instructions that it is mounted with the plasterguard in place. Cut it off when installing filler?

It is attached the the rough so I was wondering if it stays on and I cut it off when installing the filler trim.
Asked by: Archie
Yes, right before you install the trim, cut off the plastic shield even with the floor. I used a utility knife and it cut fairly easy. Hope this helps, Jim

Hot Water Adjustment

We have the R4700-FLWS with stops and there is not enough hot water. Can the faucet be adjusted to increase the hot water?
Asked by: Greg
Thank you for your question, Greg. Some Tub Filler trims have a Rotational Limit Stop. Please refer to page 7 of the instructions linked below. Please also make sure that the supply stop on the hot side is fully open. https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/74820%20Rev%20D.pdf Best regards, Jon

What is the flow rate on this valve?

I cannot find the flow chart anywhere on the specs or installation documents.
Asked by: JessiL
Hi JessiL, Thank you for your question. The flow rate for the R4700-FLWS is determined by the faucet trim placed on it. The flow rate for the faucet is 6 gpm @ 60 psi. Thanks, Dave

Is there a "hard stop" at full open on the FLWS shutoffs? I'm used to 1/4 turn shutoffs, do not want a geyser if I back out the stems too far.

Asked by: Mill Rat
Thank you Rosanna. Please then consider revising the instrucrions to read something like "The stop valves should be opened no more than X full turns." Where X is the number of turns at which the stem is at risk of being launched out of tbe valve body. Mill Rat
