Rated 4 out of 5 by from Drain Waste Plug Too Large For Existing Plumbing I am remodeling my master bath & have replaced ALL shower, vanity & tub fixtures with Delta units from the Linden collection in Champange Bronze (very good quality & modern finish). The last items I ordered were the bath tub drain/stopper assembly, RP31558-CZ (Champagne Bronze). The indications/information on the Delta web site showed it would fit a 1 1/2" waste pipe assembly (no dimensional spec sheet was available). After receiving the RP31558-CZ assembly, I find that instead of being 1 1/2" diameter (measuring across the threaded portion that screws into the pipe/fitting assembly under the tub), it measures 1 3/4" diameter. Given the fact that the option to replace the drain pipe/fitting assembly to match the RP31558-CZ under the tub would be near impossible without removing the entire tub, I was in a real "pickle". I finally called Delta Customer Support and after a long research period, the agent found 2 individual parts (RP16686-Toe-Operated Stopper & RP16687-Toe-Operated Waste Plug) in 1 1/2" diameter, but they were not available in Champagne Bronze. It is manufactured in Brilliance Brushed Bronze. The good ending is that Delta is providing these new parts free of charge. I am hoping that it is close enough in color/shade to Champagne Bronze that it will not be noticeable in the bottom of the tub. I suggest: 1) Other customers be VERY careful when ordering these drain assemblies as a replacement in an existing tub. 2) I hope Delta will provide more detailed/accurate spec sheets on these types of parts. 3) I suggest Delta manufacture the RP16686/16687 in Champagne Bronze.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product Drain came apart completely after 2 weeks. Can’t figure out how to put it back together.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn’t work The plug part doesn’t hold down when closed, so it doesn’t plug the water. Disappointed because I emailed Delta for the malfunction and they have yet to respond . No bubble baths over here.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well!! This stopper is well made, sturdy and easy to use. This is my first toe stopper so I really don’t have anything to compare it to but it seems to be a quality product!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product has not help up. Drain assembly came apart shortly after installation. Tried to use the screw plug, but did not work. I am unhappy with this product. The plug unit did not work properly, and came unscrewed. Cannot seem to get this to work properly.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Chrome looks nice, but DOESN'T FIT Product description lists this as appropriate for a 1 1/2" drain connection. Our drain opening is 1 5/8", but the outside diameter of the threads on this part measures 1-7/8". How is that supposed to fit a 1-1/2" drain???? Now I don't know if 1-1/2" drain connection means the threads are routinely larger than the 1-1/2" diameter listed (and thus no drain assembly described as 1-1/2" drain connection would work in my tub) or if the description for this product was incorrect. How can anyone order this for a remodel without detailed information like that?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I have purchase several items from this vendor and all have been well priced, arrive on time and are very good quality. I couldn't find a Champagne Bronze tub stopper and toilet handle and they had them is stock - so they always seem to have a good selection.

Asked by: Pamela

Do I install “as is” or can I remove the rubber gasket/washer and use plumber’s putty?  I installed it using the washer and the top of the lip of the drain is about 1/16” above water level.  I’m afraid to screw the assembly in any tighter.  Thanks!

Asked by: whking52
Hello Whking52, Than you for your question. The rubber gasket around the stopper assembly is not designed to be removed. The gasket helps seal and close off the drain, when trying to hold water in the tub. Best regards, Tanya

My son managed to unscrew the entire assembly, now in pieces. Do you have a diagram showing how the internal parts go back together?

Asked by: Alyabk
Thank you for your inquiry, Alyabk! The Delta Tub Drain Stopper and Flange RP31558 is not designed to be taken apart, besides the stopper unscrewing out of the flange. We do not have a diagram of the parts and there are no internal parts made for them. Best regards, Tanya

How do I remove the push down part to clean the drain with a snake. I have tried to unscrew it and have not had any luck.

Asked by: jeff
Thank you for your question, Jeff! The stopper can be removed by unscrewing it counter-clockwise from the flange. If it seems stuck, it may help to use a flat rubber jar opener to help grip it Best regards, Jon

I am replacing the roman tub faucet assembly and would like the drain trim to match.  Can I unscrew the existing drain plug assembly that goes thru the bottom of the tub and install a new color matched plug, all from within the tub?

Asked by: AZ Horn Toad
Hi AZ Horn Toad, Thank you for your question. The Delta Tub Drain Stopper and Flange RP31558 is designed to fit standard tub drains. The waste plug flange is 1 1/2" and the waste plug threads are 5/16" -16 threads. We do not manufacture a drain assembly for a roman tub/jacuzzi/whirlpool/garden tubs. Best regards, Tanya
