Thank you for your question, Robert! Although the RP71717 non-shared 2 setting diverter cartridge will allow you to divert between two functions independently, an integrated diverter rough-in valve is not recommended for use with a tub spout as this is a shower-only valve. You may connect a non-diverter tub spout to one of the diverter ports as a temperature tester, however since the flow rate from the spout would be lower than a standard installation, we do not recommended to use it as a tub filler. Alternatively, you can install an R10000 and R11000 valve with corresponding trim kits. The tub spout should be connected to the bottom port of an R10000 valve to provide sufficient flow to fill a tub.
Best regards, Edward
