Delta® Touch2O® Technology in the Kitchen

Delta Faucet is the global pioneer of touch-activated kitchen faucets

  Share
INDIANAPOLIS – Introduced in 2008, Touch2O® Technology from Delta Faucet was born of ethnographic research and human behavior studies to satisfy an unmet and unarticulated need to enhance the way users turn on the faucet with messy hands and turn off the water between tasks.

With Touch2O Technology, a simple tap anywhere on the faucet spout, hub or handle activates the flow of water. An automatic shut off stops the flow after four minutes to prevent waste when water is not needed.

“For more than a decade, Delta Faucet Company has been researching and designing touch and hands-free faucet technologies for the home,” said Bob Rodenbeck, director of research and development, Delta Faucet Company. “A wealth of experience rooted in consumer insights and experiences helps us continue to innovate and optimize our award-winning technologies to ensure we’re delivering the most responsive, precise and reliable products possible.”

Touch2O Technology relies on the science of capacitance to detect human touch. Much like smart phones, ATM machines, tablets, computers and other devices that employ this type of technology, Delta Touch2O Technology is highly responsive and reliable. And unlike infrared sensors, outside factors such as lighting conditions, skin and clothing color and mirrors or reflections do not interfere with the sensing capability.

About Delta® Kitchen Faucets with Touch2O Technology:

  • A simple tap anywhere on the faucet activates the flow of water.
    • Touch2O Technology is a highly responsive, precise and reliable technology similar to that found on smart phones, tablets and other touch-activated devices.
  • Touch2O Technology is thoughtfully designed for precise, reliable control, enabling users to activate the flow of water exactly when and where they need it.
    • In ethnographic research, Delta Faucet found that while certain tasks benefit from hands-free functionality, in the kitchen, a majority of people gravitated to the control and responsiveness of touch activation.
    • The water temperature is easily controlled above the deck using the faucet handle.
  • The touch feature makes it easier to turn off the water flow when not needed between tasks, helping save water.
    • Automatic shut off also helps prevent water waste.
      • Kitchen faucets with Touch2O Technology shut off after four minutes.
  • When hands are messy, you can start the flow of water with a forearm or wrist, helping reduce the potential for cross-contamination.
    • Touch activation anywhere on the faucet with the back of your hand or elbow helps prevent the spread of dirt and messes from hands to the faucet, without compromising the economy of motion.
    • Touch2O Technology gives people who prefer the precise control of touch activation, the option to interact with their faucet in a way that minimizes the potential for cross contamination.
  • Delta Faucet offers its Touch2O Technology in more styles, more finishes and more choices.
    • With a vast array of coordinated kitchen and bath faucets featuring proprietary touch-activated technology, Delta products give consumers more styles, more finishes and more choice in residential electronic faucets.
    • Delta Faucet offers eight kitchen suites and three bathroom suites featuring Touch2O Technology, including its Addison®, Cassidy®, Lewiston®, Linden™, Pilar® and Trinsic® kitchen collections.
