Have you ever dreamed of ditching whatever chains you down and satisfying your wanderlust by traveling the country? The “tiny house” movement has many people interested in downsizing their spaces for a smaller, more portable dwelling that allows the freedom to easily travel. The Dream Tiny sweepstakes, from Behr, offers participants the chance to win a custom Tumbleweed Tiny House RV outfitted with premium fixtures from Delta Faucet and Liberty Hardware.
“For many Americans, the tiny house movement is helping them achieve the dream of homeownership in a more modern way, and Behr wanted to be a part of this,” said Kara Belair, senior brand manager at Behr. “Behr has always supported expressing personal joy and individualism, which is exactly what the tiny house movement is all about; trading physical space to enable a more simplistic, affordable lifestyle.”
How Tiny is Tiny?
Tiny homes have been around for a long time and were known as cottages, studios, bungalows and granny cottages. In more recent terms, a tiny house means a 100- to 400-square-foot wood-frame structure, permanently mounted on a trailer with wheels. They’re usually about 8 feet wide, 14 feet tall and between 16 and 26 feet in length.
Where Can They Go?
Not all tiny houses are mobile, but the Behr tiny house is made by Tumbleweed, a certified RV manufacturer. The tiny house can be licensed and placed wherever an RV is allowed. Tumbleweed Tiny Houses, like the sweepstakes Cypress model, all feature standard plumbing and electrical systems similar to all RVs. They come with standard hookups for water and electrical.
What About the Interior?
“It took about two months from start to finish to plan the house,” said Rob Hellander, a Behr color expert responsible for the paint design of the tiny house. “Bright colors were chosen to give it as open and airy a feel as possible.”
“We also worked with Delta Faucet to outfit the bathroom with fixtures from the Cassidy bath collection,” Hellander said. The kitchen features the Charmaine Single Handle Pull-Down Kitchen Faucet with Soap Dispenser.
How Long Did It Take to Build?
“Once we completed the design portion and built the custom tiny house trailer, the process was pretty quick,” Hellander said. From the start of production to the final quality-assurance check, the process of building a tiny house takes about 16 to 20 business days, depending on customization.
