Our furry friends deserve all the best, especially when they’re spending time in a shelter. A recent collaboration between Delta Faucet, Ace Hardware and Animal Planet gave one deserving shelter a full renovation complete with new dog-washing stations featuring Delta products.
Shelters from all the over the country submitted entries to the Pet Nation Renovation sweepstakes. BARK
(Bandit’s Adoption and Rescue of K-9’s) in Ashland, Virginia, was chosen. Founded in 2001, BARK is located on a farm-like setting that serves as a safe haven for abused and neglected dogs rescued from the area around Richmond, Virginia. Many are in danger of being euthanized. Last year, BARK placed 353 dogs in forever homes and also provided spay/neuter and vaccination services.
In an on-air special on Animal Planet, viewers experienced a heartwarming journey, from the initial meeting at the rundown facility to the hard work of remodeling to the reveal.
“Delta is all about supporting good causes and getting involved in the community,” says Leah Schubert, a Delta Faucet product manager. “We live to transform a person’s experience with water from a mundane task to an intuitively innovative experience. When a person, community or even some very deserving dogs lack the resources to interact with water this way, we do everything we can to help.”
Clean, happy dogs are more likely to be noticed, and the new custom dog bath at BARK will help facilitate more adoptions. In addition, the new kennel room is a more inviting atmosphere that will set both the dogs and their potential new families at ease while at BARK.
Included in the renovated shelter are:
- Two Essa pull-down kitchen faucets for the wet room
- A Tesla lavatory faucet with Touch2O Technology in the volunteer bathroom
- A Temp2O tub/shower valve that uses a digital display to show the temperature of the water for the dog bathing area
- A Palm hand shower, also for the dog bathing area
“The volunteers and dogs at BARK make the most of very little, and I’m glad we could help provide them such a great facility,” Leah says. “Projects like Pet Nation Renovation are critical not only for improving the lives of dogs, but also for raising awareness about why pet adoption is so important.”
