What is it?
Delta Faucet’s Touch2O Technology is an electronic faucet system that allows you to start and stop the flow of water with the touch of your fingertips, wrists—even forearms.
How does it work?
As with a standard faucet, you use the handle to turn on the water and set the desired temperature and flow. But unlike a standard faucet that requires grabbing the handle to turn the water off between tasks, Touch2O Technology requires just a gentle tap anywhere on the spout or handle to start and stop the flow of water.
Is magic involved?
Nope, just physics and six AA batteries. The technology, which was introduced in 2008, involves something called capacitance sensors to detect human touch and turn the faucet on and off. If you need more of an explanation, then, yes … magic is involved.
Why is this technology a big deal?
You’ve just cut up a raw chicken and your hands are full of gunk. How are you going to turn on the faucet without making a mess? What’s the lag time?
Virtually none. It takes about one-eighth of a second—which your brain will interpret as “instantly”—between the time you touch the faucet and the time it turns itself on or off.
The only drawback?
Once you get used to a Touch2O faucet, you’ll find yourself tapping non-Touch2O faucets and wondering why nothing happens. People will stare.
