Talk about water efficiency! “Save water, bathe with a friend” has a whole new meaning as of Saturday, June 27, when we (and 331 of our newest friends) became the Guinness World Record holder for “Most People Showering Simultaneously.”
We teamed up with Olympian and fellow mess-embracer Summer Sanders to host the Indiana Warrior Dash mud run/obstacle extravaganza, and we brought along EPA WaterSense-certified shower heads to clean off participants. Actually, we built a fully loaded, totally bonkers shower station, equipped with 164 H2Okinetic shower heads that make the spray feel wetter but actually use 40 percent less water than standard shower heads.
Then, we rounded up 331 mud-soaked race participants, who agreed to shower together for 5 minutes to beat the record for Most People Showering Simultaneously. (The record was previously held by a group of 300 shower-takers in Thailand.) Guinness adjudicator Michael Empric oversaw the shower and approved the bather count.
“We partnered with Warrior Dash to bring our HappiMess campaign to life and help participants tackle the roughest, muddiest aspects of the course, knowing Delta showers would be there to wash it away afterwards,” said Catherine Roper, Delta brand marketing director. “For Delta Faucet, breaking this record isn’t just about how many people showered; it’s about celebrating how many people enjoyed the race and this experience to its fullest.”
