Love it or hate it, the laundry must be done… and done... and done. In fact, we’re told Americans spend more time in the laundry room than even the beloved bathroom. No wonder laundry room remodels are on the rise. Help air your client’s dirty laundry in style with these tips:
Listen, the laundry room can guzzle its fair share of energy. Cut down your client’s energy consumption by installing an ENERGY STAR®-certified washer and dryer pair, energy-efficient lighting, and utility sinks with water-efficient faucets.
A little natural light can go a long way in lifting your client’s mood as she tends to mind-numbing chores like laundry. A window or skylight is ideal, but an energy-efficient light bulb with a color rendering index (CRI) close to 100 will mimic the natural stuff.
Get those undergarments off the shower curtain or door and those damp drawers off the doorknob. Well-designed drying racks are what your client needs to dry and declutter. Custom racks that hang on the wall look fab and save on space. Fold-out racks can be pulled out on the ready, then put away in a hurry.
Pet-owning clients dream of the day their pet has his own room to groom, too. Why not make this dream come true by adding a large utility sink, or small shower with hand-held faucet, to the laundry room so Fido can be laundered, too? Then toss the towels straight into the washer. Your client is happy. Her house is happy. The pooch, well, is at least clean.
When was the last time your client said she has too much storage? Exactly never? Cubbies, sliding drawers, and hideaway ironing boards and folding tables are just what she needs to keep her sane and organized. Give her as much storage as the room can handle so she can put all her stuff in its place.
These tips, coupled with your ingenuity, will turn your client’s laundry room from bore to one she adores.
