Thank you for your question, Allan! Delta kitchen faucet sprayers use a diverter, which is a moving valve that shifts the water flow back and forth between the faucet spout and the sprayer. When you activate the sprayer handle, the diverter shuts down the flow to the spout. When you release the sprayer handle, the diverter opens again and lets the water flow into the spout. Please know that it is normal to have a thin stream of water coming from the spout whenever the sprayer is being used. If you are getting more than a pencil-thin stream of water from the spout then we would ask that you contact us for further assistance at 1-800-345-3358 Monday-Friday: 8a.m.-8p.m. EST and Saturday: 9a.m.-6p.m. EST or via email at email@example.com.
Best regards, Edward
