Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improved construction and ease of installation The 472-DST Delta kitchen faucet is the fourth one of its type I have owned over the past 27 years. I had a "lifetime guarantee" replacement of the metal-clad spray hose for one of these faucets. This model is the second one I have installed myself--a vastly better and easier installation process, compared to its predecessor, over eight years old. It took longer to remove the old faucet than to install the new one, particularly to remove the brass nut from the central thread-mount--a difficult chore, working in tight confines posed by the copper water feeds and the central housing. I have always felt that the "goose neck" type stainless steel wrapped spray hose was a weak link. It will prove interesting to see if the new mesh-plastic hose will be better, along with the PEX water feed hoses. (I have always preferred the Delta-brand kitchen faucet, with a single operating lever that can be engaged with a forearm; with a removable spout for washing down the sink; and the spray-mode option.)

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Faucet is good. Cartridge only good for 3 yrs Written in 2015: "We had this faucet in our old house and loved it. It seemed rock solid. So when we moved to a new house that needed a new sink and faucet we went straight for what we knew and loved. Upon installation it seemed cheaper - it wasn't as steady and solid and just didn't quite feel the same, but it worked fine and still looked great. Fast forward three years and now it's virtually impossible to get the water to stop; it takes a lot of very fine tuning to finally shut the water off and it's getting worse, fast. I'm afraid we'll be resorting to the shut-off valves under the sink soon. Does Delta just not make 'em like they used too? I'm pretty frustrated that a company with a reputation like Delta would make something that seems like it's only got a usable life of 3 years." Delta, to their credit, had great customer service in 2015 and sent a replacement cartridge so the water would shut off. Now, in 2018 3 years later AGAIN, the EXACT same thing is happening. This makes me think that these cartridges for the single handle kitchen sinks are only meant to last 3 years. We still like the appearance of the faucet, but based on our mediocre experience with both shower and sink cartridges from Delta, I'm not sure we will be considering them for our upcoming remodel.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the faucet, somewhat disapointed in the performace Ok, I have very mixed feelings about this faucet. Starting with the good. I purchased this faucet 12.5 years ago when my home was first built. It came in the gold finish that I loved and it worked well for 11 years. There was always the issue of the warm setting, very hard to get it just right, but that was no deal breaker. I love the sleek design and the low bearing design of the instrument. I'm not crazy about the goose neck faucets. Then the hose started to not extend and then to leak. Delta replaced the hose and the leak issue was resolved. Then the main part of the faucet, the head, cracked. I even lived with that because I loved this faucet style and color. Shortly after the crack, I experienced a major flood in my home, originating under the kitchen sink, no fault of Delta faucet. Since I had to have the sink cabinet removed and replaced with brand new cabinetry, it was the right time to replace my beautiful gold faucet that was cracked. I called Delta and the customer service I received was superb!. I got the faucet replaced, same style....only they no longer carried the gold finish. (bummer). I selected the black finish which was fine since my kitchen appliances are black. Got the faucet, had it installed, and it worked fine for 2 months and 27 days. I was using the faucet and suddenly, the water would not turn off; kept streaming a low stream. Then, the nightmare of a flood under the sink again. The water was streaming from the hose under the sink and had built up a nice little flood before I realized it was leaking underneath the sink. Mind you, my sink cabin is brand new due to the recent house flood, and I did not want it to be damaged again. It was also leaking from the base of the faucet on top of the sink. I was leaving to go on vacation and did not have the luxury of time to get a plumber here, so the whole house water system was turned off until I returned. I'm back now, had a plumber out yesterday, and he confirmed the faucet is faulty. I am now in the process of trying to get the faucet replace...again...only this time, I will choose a new design. All in all, I loved the performance and the design of this faucet without incident, for nearly 12 years. I hope to continue my product relationship with Delta Faucets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Extremely durable chromed finish The chromed finish seems to be indestructible and very easy to keep clean. Installed the faucet about 2 years ago but, it still looks brand new.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Awkward The plumber installed this faucet as a repair, and he'll have to come back to replace it. The pull-out spray handle is very awkward for use in a kitchen sink. I find I have to pull the hose out all the way and hold it in one hand so I can control the sprayer with the other hand. The handle for the spray unit is so large and the hose so stiff it is impossible to fit the spray head down into the sink without changing grips. Also, the toggle switch for spray/stream is sticky, it took two of us to get it to move the first time. The pull-out unit doesn't nest back into the faucet very well. There is no "on/off" function on the spray nozzle, which is a key feature in a spray wand for a kitchen sink. The spray stream seems to weak and diffuse for cleaning. The pull-out part of the faucet is plastic and feels cheap. I believe the pull-out spray head on this kitchen faucet is more like what one might want in bath or shower than a kitchen sink. I'm switching to a different design.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from horrible A contractor bought this and installed it before I saw it. It is very cheap looking and looks and feels like plastic. I am going to have him replace it. The button you push to change the spray does not work well. Very disappointed in this faucet. There were no pros to this faucet.

Is the single-mount escutcheon available separately? We are putting in a new sink but retaining our faucet, and have to switch from 3-hole to single hole mount.

faucet is dripping how do I take apart to repair

Asked by: dave
Hi Dave, Thank you for your question. To stop a dripping 472-DST faucet you will first need to shut off the water supply to the faucet. Pry off the red/blue indicator button on the handle to access the set screw that holds the handle on the faucet. Use a 1/8" allen wrench to loosen the set screw, pull up to remove the handle. Unscrew the cap, and the bonnet nut in a counter-clockwise direction to remove and access the RP50587 valve assembly. Tightening the bonnet may stop the drip, if not the RP50587 will need to be replaced. Here is a link to the manual for your faucet model to help with the repair. http://www.deltafaucet.com/customersupport/documentation/472-dst.html?document=mi&fromDetailArea=kitchen&documentIndex=0#flashWrapper Thanks, Dave

I need the Allen wrench that comes in box to tighten my kitchen faucet
Asked by: Imani
Hi Imani, Thank you for your question. There is not an allen wrench that ships with the model 472-DST. The wrench size needed to tighten the handle is 1/8". Thanks, Dave
