Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice faucet I had this installed a couple of weeks ago to replace my old kitchen faucet. I loved the style of my old one (Victorian) but it kept having to be repaired. I researched new kitchen faucets and this was one of the top ones. I like the pull down sprayer. It is easy to use and clicks back into place securely. You do have to jiggle the faucet a bit to get the excess water out of the neck after using the sprayer, otherwise the faucet drips. The finish is pretty (arctic stainless) but I need to keep it wiped dry to prevent spotting. If it does have water dry on it, the spotting cleans up easily. The only problem I have is getting used to the handle. There is not much leeway between the hot and cold settings and getting it to come out "warm" is a little tricky. I'm sure it's just a matter of getting used to it. Also, having the handle on the side of the base of the faucet, you are pushing the it to the right to turn it on and pushing it left (to the vertical position) to turn it off. For 30 years I have had a faucet handle that goes up and down - not side to side. I find myself wanting to pull it forward to turn it off. Again, something I just have to adjust to. The big advertised feature of this faucet is the Shield Spray, but I haven't had a reason to use it yet. It works fine, I just don't seem to need it. I'm hoping that this faucet will last me for years to come and not need to have a drip fixed every couple of years.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Aerator water pressure issues. I bought this on Amazon late Sept 2018 based on reviews. It was installed early October. In just six months, I'm facing aerator issues. Water pressure both cold and hot drop significantly at times. On disconnecting the faucet head from the wand hose I get full water pressure. I've used the aerator wrench and removed the aerator several times to wash and replace it. There wasn't much particulate matter so I find it odd that water pressure drops so much. The head assembly is not user serviceable though it has 3 spray mechanisms built in.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the design I've had this faucet for a couple of weeks now and just love it! The shield spray feature is great and the pull down sprayer creates much less splatter than my old sprayer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Features The faucet seems to be built pretty well, its quiet in operation, and has the options for different sprays. I like the way the base secures to the sink. It is rock solid when tightened. As noted by other reviewers, though, the water flow follows somewhat of a wide arc. Other than that, it is fine and there wouldn't be any hesitation in recommending it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from okay but not great I bought this because of all the rave reviews, but honestly I do not think it lives up to the hype. It works but the regular sprayer comes out as two lines of spray instead of an even circular spray and once it hits your plate or cup the water sprays all over. The "Splash Guard" spray feature doesn't splash but it is not effective, the spray is too "soft".

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Water Pressure Inadequate This faucet reduces the water pressure to a small stream barely enough water pressure to wash the dishes. Is there a way to improve the water pressure coming out of the faucet?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Faucet Excellent Quality I really love my new faucet it is so easy to operate and use with all the features. Also, I had a Certified Master Plumber remove my old faucet set and install this one. He had no issues at all installing it. In fact he said in his experience and opinion Delta makes top of the line long lasting products, he never has to go back and work on one he's installed. Delta has my vote.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this faucet! I have had this faucet for at least 7 years now and feel like I made an excellent decision in purchasing it. The magnet is strong to hold the sprayer in place. It moves easily from my left sink to the right one and the little button that switches from regular flow to spray is easy to change.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Real Looker Recently upgraded my kitchen and added granite counter tops (Ubatuba granite is black with various colors mixed in) so I wanted a cool brushed nickel one hole faucet. The handle was supposed to go on the side, but because it was a tight fit my plumber put the handle in the front and it works fine and looks great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made Me a Hero Paid a little extra for 2 of these Delta faucets. Installed 1 in new remodeled kitchen. The second identical faucet will be installed in the utility room when the cabinet is delivered. Easy to install myself. Good instructions. Great action on the handle. Looks great. Better flow than the previous peerless faucet. Magnetic pull down works solid. Counter weight for pull down is simple and smooth. Love the no splash cone , sprayer and high flow options. Best result is wife loves it and me.

I have the Delta Leland touch faucet 9178 TAR DST. Can it still work when the batteries go dead

Asked by: LID
Hi LID, Thank you for your question! The light will flash red when the batteries are low. You can remove the batteries while the water is running to switch to manual mode. You can also turn the faucet off with the handle, disconnect the solenoid, and connect the hose directly to the faucet to bypass the solenoid. Best regards, Jon

Is this model the exact same where ever it is purchased?

My plumber installed this model 9178-Chrome-DST and charged me $769 for the faucet set, soap dispenser, and installation. When I told him the set was $200 on Amazon with free Prime shipping and so I thought the additional $569 was a bit high for installation his reply was that the quality of his Delta faucet was much better than what I could buy online, because he is a plumber. Is this true? Isn't a Model 9178 Chrome DST the same wherever it is bought??
Asked by: Theresa B
Dear Theresa B, Thank you for your question. We appreciate your interest in Delta faucets. All Delta faucets feature the same quality parts, materials, and workmanship, no matter what kind of dealer sells them. Delta retail dealers usually sell faucets that include the handles in the boxes. Plumbing professionals and Delta Studio Showrooms sell faucets where the faucets and handles are packaged and sold separately ("LHP" models), giving the customer some additional styling choices. However, the quality of all Delta faucets is the same. Best regards, Tanya

Does the spray/stream revert to a default setting when the water is turned off?

Asked by: kneeley
Hi Kneeley, Thank you for your question! The button on the spray wand for the model 9178-DST will stay diverted to the mode it was set at by the customer. It will not switch to a default when turned off. Best regards, Brandis

Stainless steel vs arctic finish

We have 2 year old whirlpool appliances and will be installing a countertop with Solera SR305 sink under counter mount stainless steel sink. Your opinion please on the arctic or stainless steel finish for delta leader faucet 19978 or 9178 This is a one shot deal so I need to get it right. Thanks
Asked by: Diane
Hi Diane, Thank you for your question. There is a slight difference between the Delta Faucet Stainless Steel finish and the Delta Faucet Artic Stainless finish. Stainless Steel has a gold tone to it and is mostly used in the bath. Artic Stainless has a blue tint to it and more closely matches stainless steel appliances out in the market today. It is only used in the kitchen. Thanks, Dave

We’ve had our 9178-DST for 5 months & constantly have water puddles from our hands on our Quartz countertop. Constantly drying around the faucet. Can we move this so the handle is in the front instead of the right side and has anyone else done this.

Asked by: Shari
Thank you for your question, Shari! This Delta model can be installed with the handle in front if desired. You will simply need a helper to hold the faucet in place while you loosen the mounting nut below the counter just enough to reposition the faucet. You may also want to consider upgrading to the Touch20 version of this model which will allow you turn the faucet on or off with a quick flick of the wrist. https://www.deltafaucet.com/kitchen/product/9178T-DST Best regards, Edward

I bought this through amazon and the aerator is 1.8 gpm, we don't have any local code restrictions and I would like to find a 2.2 gpm aerator that would fit this . Someone (from delta) recommended Delta RP53998 2.2 Gpm Aerator, Chrome. This was to big

Asked by: Sharon
Thank you for your question, Sharon! I apologize for the confusion with this part and we are happy to help. The aerator RP53998 is not meant for the new Spotshield wand that now comes with this model. We do offer a 2.2 gpm aerator with the correct thread size for your wand as part number RP46827. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=RP46827 Best regards, Edward

I read most of the answers to the questions. If the handle assembly is metal, what material is inside ? Is this product considered a middle quality

or is this still low - end quality? How much price range do I set to look for a middle quality for single handle pull down/pull out kitchen faucet? How often do I change the washer? I didn't buy this yet. I am checking your homepage to see which one I would like to buy.
Asked by: haru chan
Hello Haru Chan, Thank you for your questions. The internal cartridge for this faucet is manufactured with plastic, but it is a high quality of plastic. The rest of the material this Delta faucet is made with is also of high quality material. Best Regards, Courtney
