Rated 1 out of 5 by from Worked really nice for 60 Days Took a chance and bought this very expensive faucet about 90 days ago even though I read some of the customer reviews where people were complaining about the faucet turning on and off randomly when it was turned off. Initially I didn't have any issues but this particular problem started after about 60 days and I thought maybe I needed to change the batteries in the cabinet below but that didn't help one bit. I regret getting this because I feel it will turn on in the middle of the night or when I'm not home. So far I've gotten no answers from Delta but would appreciate some help.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Doesn’t work The faucet frequently turns off mid use without touching it and it burns through batteries. When the battery dies the faucet is not able to be used at all, not just the touch feature.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very satisfied, thus far! After doing extensive research on a replacement kitchen faucet, I decided on this one from Delta. Initially, I was looking into a touch-free faucet which cost about $100 more, but decided against this after reading customer reviews that if the power went out the faucet would not operate. So, I decided to go with the Delta '9178T-AR-DST Touch2O' based on Delta's reputation, the faucet's features including the magnetic docking faucet head, diamond water seal, and touch on/off control. Before making my purchase, I also read many reviews from other buyers of this faucet to get their feedback on their experiences and any recommendations they shared. Three very helpful suggestions were to zip-tie the coupling clips to ensure they would not unintentionally pop off. Also, the use of an outer hose to fit over the faucet water line prior to flushing the faucet which would give better control of catching the rinse water into a bucket outside of the sink cabinet to keep it dry. Finally, purchasing the optional plug-in power supply adapter was recommended by several buyers who said that it made the responsiveness of the "touch on/off" feature of the faucet more consistently reliable without the need to fumble with replacing batteries. All these suggestions were quite helpful for me. As for the operation of the faucet that I installed about a month ago, I am very satisfied! The instruction manual and on-line Delta manufacturer's video helped prepare me for a straight-forward and clean installation. All of the faucet's features are working as advertised and expected. The weakest feature that I have experienced is the "shield spray" which is both weaker in operation than I would have preferred and must be held very close to whatever I am spraying to avoid splashing; otherwise, "shield spray" doesn't reduce splashing much more than the other operating spray functions do. I also wish that the plug-in solenoid power adapter was included with the faucet when you buy it rather than the battery pack feature as a matter of convenience, but I understand that not all purchasers of this faucet necessarily have an electric outlet located under their sink as I do and that the battery pack is their only option. Finally, the tubular specialty wrench that is included to secure the faucet to the counter top is a true blessing to have and made the 'trickiest' part of my installation so much easier. Time will tell whether or not the "Leland Touch2O" I purchased will live up to Delta's promises. At this point, I feel as though the quality of the product and its components will stand the test of time. Should I need future warranty assistance, I trust that Delta's customer service representatives and Delta will stand behind this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Beautiful, Quality Made Faucet I've had this faucet about three months, and it's a beautiful and well made as I expected from Delta. Its only flaw is inconsistency in the touch feature. Most of the time it works as designed, but sometimes the touch feature does not respond, and other times it's way too sensitive. All members of our family have the same experience. At first I considered exchanging the faucet; but overall I like it well enough to put up with this one weakness.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not What Was Expected We bought this faucet a month ago and unfortunately the shield spray feature that we paid about $100.00 extra for is simply not what is advertised or promoted. First, the water pressure with the entire faucet is much weaker than our previous faucet which makes it hard to wash food away. Because of that, the shield spray feature doesn't actually provide additional assistance to actually wash food away. Additionally, the 'shield' on the shield spray doesn't form a large circle as advertised. It may be a defect in our faucet but it still causes spraying.

Will the faucet still work if the owner goes out?? We have ours hard-wired and don’t use the battery pack.

Asked by: Spud
Hello Jill, Thank you for your question. The Delta Leland Touch2O Kitchen 9178T-SP-DST faucet is designed to only activate when touched. We recommend to turn the handle to the off position if leaving on vacation or for an extended period of time, but you can leave it on/open for day-to-day use. Best regards, Tanya

We recently installed this faucet in a condominium. When the neighbors use their cold faucets, hot water crosses through our clients 9178T-SP-DST and hot water comes out the neighbors faucets.

Asked by: Bellevue Plumbing
Thank you for your question, Bellevue Plumbing! That is correct and this issue, also known as cross flow, will happen if the RP53468 Check Valves are not installed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and please feel free to contact us directly if you need further assistance. https://media.deltafaucet.com/PartsDiagram/DPD-K-9178T-DST%20Rev%20D.pdf Best regards, Edward

I have 15 1/4" from my counter to a a shelf above my sink. Is there a pipe attached to the faucet making it impossible to fit the faucet in the counter opening?

Asked by: Cove
Hi, Cove! Thank you for your question. The 9178T-SP-DST faucet does have a spout shank and PEX lines that do have to be installed above the sink so the lines and spout shank can fit through the hole of the sink. Here are the manual instructions for this unit: https://media.deltafaucet.com/MandI/92834%20Rev%20E.pdf Best Regards, Rosanna

Will the faucet work if the power goes out?? Ours is hardwired and we don’t use the battery pack.

Asked by: Spud
Thank you for your question, Jill. We recommend connecting the battery pack as a backup. The faucet will not work by touch if the the power goes out and the batteries are not installed. You may use the battery box to turn the faucet on and the remove it to put it into manual mode. If you are unable to activate it by touch, you may also bypass the solenoid assembly completely by connecting the pull-out hose directly to the faucet. Best regards, Jon

What is wrong with a Delta Leland kitchen faucet with a RP50587 cartridge when you pull the handle straight down and it won't shut off? I have to push it up to the right and then pull down to cut off the water. This faucet when new has not worked right.

Asked by: Donald
Hi, Donald. Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing a leak from your Delta faucet. We recommend to clean the bottom puck on the valve cartridge assembly and retighten the bonnet nut to stop the leak. To do this, turn the water off at your shut off valve. Remove the handle. Unscrew the bonnet nut. Pull the valve cartridge out and clean the bottom puck on the valve cartridge assembly. Reinstall the valve cartridge assembly and retighten the bonnet by turning clockwise, to the right. Install the handle back on and turn the water back on. Test the faucet. If the faucet still leaks, we recommend to replace the valve cartridge assembly, RP50587. Dear Delta, We recently ordered a 9178T-SP-DST from Home Depot after looking up the P/N on the Delta website. After ordering, we realized the Home Depot site does not say anything about ShieldSpray. Has the 9178T-SP-DST always had ShieldSpray?

Asked by: Chambersohana
Hi, Chambersohana! Thank you for your question. The 9178T-SP-DST did not have ShieldSpray technology unitl Winter of 2017. Best Regards, Rosanna

For the last ~2 months, the lt @ the base flashed red when start/stopping the water (indicating a necessary battery change), but worked fine. After no use for a few days the faucet wouldn't work in touch or manual mode until new batteries. Is this normal?

Asked by: boilerbob
Hi, boilerbob! Thank you for your question. This is normal. Batteries would need to be changed when the red light is flashing and won't turn on manually for the Delta 9178T-SP-DST faucet. Best Regards, Rosanna
