Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks good; functionality questionable I agree with the review "At Least it Works". This pop-up drain did not easily fit into my rectangular vessel sink. My plumber had to grind the flange down (it was too long) to make it work; consequently, the pop-up feature does not function unless the top is unscrewed almost to the point of coming off.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from wrong application This is so oversized it seems like it's for a bath tub, not a sink. It barely fits, the pop up is way out of proportion for a vanity and there's hardly clearance to operate it. This is the 2nd delta stopper I've purchased based on the recommendation in the description then had to rip out because it's unsuitable for one or other reacon. I just want a no overflow stopper.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great I did not particularly like this bigger style pop up drain. It looked too large in the sink. I ended up having some problems with it sticking as well. I ended up exchanging it out for a smaller looking push pop-up and like it much better.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from At least it works. It may just be the sink (porcelain), but this drain did not fit into the countersink. I had to grind the flange down to physically put it in the sink. Problem solved, except that the pop up feature does not function unless the to is unscrewed almost to the point of coming off. Since there is no overflow, and I know how to make it work, it works. It seems sturdy enough, and it may fit other sinks better than mine.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Popo up mechanism sticks the pop up feature is very inconsistent. you have to hit it just right to get it to work.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy and looks good Was 1/8 inch off what I needed so I had to return. Its replacement cost much more but was sturdier.

What is the finish material of the 1 1/4" drain pipe?

The image shows the 1 1/4" drain pipe that extends down from the pop up drain assembly, but it looks to be a different finish. I need to have all piping and drain pieces finished in polished chrome underneath the exposed vanity. Can you confirm what the finish of this piece is?
Asked by: Jason
Hi Jason, Thank you for your question. The model 72172 push pop up drain will have a chrome finished tail piece. Thanks, Dave

72172 push pop assembly- How do you remove the pop up ( drain) to clean?

Asked by: John Straub
Hi John, Tanks for your question. The stopper will unscrew from the flange for cleaning. Best regards, Jon

We just purchases two of these for new vessel sinks. Neither stopper will pop up unless I unscrew it a little ways from the drain.  Then they wobble.  How do you adjust the height so that the stoppers will operate properly

Asked by: Rick R
Hi, Rick R. Thank you for your question, and I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing an issue with your Delta 72172 drain assembly. We do recommend to unscrew from under the sink to reset the position of the drain assembly and then retightened when it's set at the desired position. If you should need further assistance with this, please contact our Delta Customer Service line at (800)345-3358. We are available Monday-Friday, 7am-7pm, CST and Saturday, 8am-5pm, CST. You may also email at customerservice@deltafaucet.com. Best Regards, Rosanna

can the in sink pop up plug be changed to a smaller diameter plug?

Asked by: Stan
Thank you for your question, Stan. The 33W576 Push Pop-Up with Overflow has a smaller cap. Unfortunately, the plug is not interchangeable so the complete pop-up assembly would need to be replaced. https://www.deltafaucet.com/parts-product-detail?modelNumber=33W576 Best regards, Jon

I have a copper sink with an overflow. I believe it's an 18 gauge sink. That is the thickness of the drain hole. Will the pop-up tighten down that far?

Asked by: Doug A
Hi Doug A, Thank you for your question. The 72172-RB drain assembly fits most standard sinks. Below, are the Technical Specifications document link, to show the measurements for this unit: https://media.deltafaucet.com/SpecSheet/DSP-L-72172%20Rev%20C.pdf Best regards, Tanya

Does the 72172 push pop up less overflow help vessel sinks to drain like a sink with an overflow?

Asked by: MHG
Dear MHG, Thank you for your inquiry! The Delta Push Pop-Up Assembly 72172, can be installed in a vessel sink with no overflow holes. It will still work and drain the same as 72173 Push Pop-Up assembly with overflow holes. Best regards, Tanya

Do you recommend silicone for the 72172-RB pop-up drain less overflow?

Hi, I am installing the 72172-RB. I am testing without silicone and only using the washer gasket under the flange. So far, no leaks. However, do you recommend putting silicone under the washer/gasket (between sink and washer/gasket) prior to adding the flange just to be safer?
Asked by: Dave23
Hi Dave, Thank you for your question. You can use the supplied gasket or silicone but we do not recommend using both. Thanks, Dave

Will this work on sinks with 2-Inch outlets

I have a stainless laundry sink (Whitehaus Model # WHLS2424-NP) with a 2" drain hole. Will this pop up work? If not what model delta pop up will?
Asked by: arkrunner1
Hi arkrunner1, Thank you for your question! The top of the flange has an outer diameter of 2 3/8", so it should work. For other dimensions, please see the Technical Specifications. https://media.deltafaucet.com/SpecSheet/DSP-L-72172%20Rev%20C.pdf Best regards, Jon
